Ayumi Hamisaki

I've been told by a friend at work that he/she is actually very good. Now im not talking about the remixes I mean the originals. I was thinking about buying the album as a stab in the dark sort of thing however its best I consult u lot first methinks.

All opinions welcomed

Is it trance or what?

Posted by netw3rkd on Dec-18-2002 23:00:

Shes J-Pop (I think thats it) right? Anyways, she can't sing for shit. Just my opinion. :]

i think the originals of Ayu's work is a load of guff. Luckily we hav artists like Push, Dumonde, Above & Beyond, Airwave, etc. who come along and make these shite tracks into masterpieces. But imo Ayu's work is just a load of crappy pop with annoying cheesy vocals.. Blerrgh!!!

this is a pretty biased opinion...considering the only thing people ever listen to here is trance. ayumi hamasaki's original work is awesome, but of course it's japanese pop music so people here are gonna be naturally ignorant about it. If you compare who work to some of the nasty shit here in america like britney spears, christina aguilera, n'sync, etc, you'd see a difference..but oh well.

The fact that the guy is asking about Ayumi Hamasaki on a trance board leads me to assume that he reakons she is a trance artist. I was just pointing out its cheesy pop and not trance. And i happen to find her original work with those vocals extremely crap, and would welcome britney spears over her any day. Its not just America that gets artists such as "britney spears, christina aguilera, n'sync" u no

Cheers to you, everyone has their opinion and i respect that...i like em, but anyway my bad i didn't read his entire post like his last sentence but whatever.

I think she has a very cute voice, but that's just me. I personally think her songs have a little bit of electronic influence and her sound is a bit more diverse than that of many American pop artists. Just my opinion.

Posted by mavo on Dec-19-2002 01:50:

vocals suck ass. Thank you Above & Beyond and others for taking crap and making it good, but then again what isn't good when a&b gets their hands on it.

ur mavs

Posted by johnson3161 on Dec-19-2002 02:28:

She makes jpop as it was said earlier and I think you should get some mp3s of hers to judge for yourself. I mean thats what mp3s are for right?

Posted by tc-fan on Dec-19-2002 02:58:

well listened to some and i like them....i like her voice also...IMO

I don't know anything from Ayumi Hamisaki, but Ayumi Hamasaki, is one of the best singers I'v ever seen Just teasing Anyway, Ayu's work is really good, I love her original stuff. Here are my top-3 favourites:

Ayumi Hamasaki - Endless sorrow (one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard and the BEST lyrics ever )

Ayumi Hamasaki - Evolution (very catchy and the lyrics are excellent as well)

Ayumi Hamasaki - M (very different from what we usually here... quite original, I'd say. A curious thing about this song is that she composed the melody too)

If you're looking for more info on her, visit this site: http://ayumi.yoll.net/main.html

That's where I get news from her and stuff. Plus, you'll find the translation of her lyrics, so you'll understand why I like it so much

edit: No, it's not trance, it's j-pop. However, her songs are better than lots of things from some "trance gods", believe me

Posted by mot10n on Dec-19-2002 04:59:

ayumi does have a nice sound, but only after it's been optimized in the studio. her live performances are brutal; her voice gets way too nasal-y for me. but she is a cutie, and a short one too. my personal fav is m. such a nice and peaceful track.

props to tha j-pop massive! *waits to get flamed*

Posted by chris kaos on Dec-19-2002 08:04:

DON'T BUY J-POP MUSIC! AZN POP MUSIC IS THE DEVIL!

i should know

im chinese....chinese pop rapes me...

Posted by trainspotter on Dec-19-2002 11:49:

chris kaos: it's not like u r the only chinese here and and it's not like u know everything. i guess u just havent listen to good chinese songs YET
there r some good songs by chinese artists.....for instance, slow-tech riddim makes good tracks

and i like ayu's voice, i think her voice's getting better and better

mot10n: if u listen to her latest live performances u'll notice her voice's not as cracked as in last yrs concert, u have to understand that she has live performance almost every single day in these 3 yrs

and her songs, well, it's jpop alrite, but some of the ppl in here just dun understand how jpop is different than pop in the US
i mean, download ayu's "evolution", "end of the world" or "independent", and LISTEN TO THEM FIRST B4 U SAY ANYTHING
neither britney nor mandy etc would have songs like these in their albums

Yea, I was at a record store the other day and there were loads of japs music both pop and trance and i bumped in to the ayu - trance 2. Seeing the tracklist i bought it .. costs me 6 quids.. the vocals just bores you to death.. i'm sitting there in my car having to imagine while listening to it how it'd be without vocals... if you want quality pop japs singer try Utada Hikaru.. she's damn cute as well! go to www.themusiclover.com or kazaa and you might be able to find the tune to d/l from there. I'm glad i own the M ep on vinyl so none of those vocals to annoy me =)

woops

Posted by George Kendall on Dec-20-2002 11:19:

U wouldn't like her stuff Stu

The album is full of vocal mixes really and her vooice is awful.

The dubs are avaliable but quite hard to get hold of unless you're in Japan

Posted by neovalkyr on Dec-20-2002 11:41:

Drunk

i used to listen to her before i listened to trance and i like her music. but then again if you cant understand japanses i'm not sure if you would like it.
