I don't think I can afford it, it would be awesome to carry 20 gigs of trance though

For the same price as a 5GB iPOD, you can get a 30GB PJB-100. The PJB-100 looks better too, in my opinion. Just my 2c.

The price of an iPod is mostly due to the use of small 2" hard disks that are kinda expensive.. The cheaper solutions (aka the other hard-drive-based mp3 players) use the cheap larger hard disks.. Now, if you don't mind the size or the battery autonomy of such devices, you might consider them, but they come nowhere near an iPod..

Firewire. I have an ipod as well, and I can confidently say its the best mp3 player on the market.

the most amazing thing ive seen is the new archos Jukebox Multimedia 2.0 Handheld Entertainment Center. Its 20 gig, and you can watch MOVIES ON IT!!! the screen is small, sure. But ive seen this thing in action, and its really handy in class or on the road. You will actually enjoy watching full-length movies on it. Its also got a digital camera attachment. im sure you can find it much less on ebay that it's retail price of 379.

I got a 5GB IPod, it comes in handy, a good purchase. Yes the space is small, but I change it every so often, and plus I got a laptop so when I go far, I can just play songs off of my laptop then :P

You can use the newest iPod with Windows now. Which is awesome. Finally a great mp3 player for the windows people.

wurd. best mp3 player on the market, not only in size and reliability, battery life, and ease of use. but it also doubles as a firewire DISK. meaning you can store data files and use it as a mobile hard drive.
