How Do I.... Tonearm?

I basically want to know how to set my tonearm to 0, therefore i know how much weigh i am putting on my records.

I don't know if the counterweight is supose to be pushed back, then do i get 0 or if i put it at the very end. I am so lost i don't know how to fix the weigh... Don't know which side applies more weigh and which side applies lest weigh...

almost forgot, i got Numark TT 1520.

hey,
if i dont make sense please, don't do what im telling you i dont want you to fuck up your tables but this is generally how you get the 0... what you do is first make sure your tonearm is at the correct height (this depends on your cartridge/stylus and is that big ring down the bottm that you click the little lock switch to unlock and move up or down...) ok then turn your table off.
get your tonearm (make sure your headshell/cartridge/stylus is on) place the edge of it (you might wanna put the protector bit on your stylus' on) against the platter (the bumpy bits) it will either press heavily against your platter or be shooting up in the air either way you have to much or too little weight (respectivly) the objective of getting it at 0 is so that your tone arm lies FLAT in line with your slipmats, keep tweaking the weight until your tonearm floats exactly horizontally just above the slipmat
this is your 0 weight (so move the numbers to 0) then adjust how much weight you want on your vinyl....................
did that make sense? there are a few sites
do a search if your still confused
basically to answer you your 0 weight is when it lies flat horizontally just above or in line with the slipmats without you touching it (so if you pick it up put it against the platter and just left it it would just be horizontal)

this is very simple

moving the weight closer to the cartridge puts more weight on the needle

moving the weight away from the cartridge puts less weight on the needle

1) Using the information above balance the tonearm so it completely parallel to the turn table. (Think of a see-saw with nobody on it) That point is what you set to zero.

This is the simpliest way I can explain it.

Put the protector bit in your Stylus when u want to do this, is not a good idea since you wont have the real weight of the Cartridge.. but u must be careful if u dont wanna Damage your Stylus.
