Go for the Technics 1200mk2 or 1210.
They're expensive, but will give you many years of reliable
mixing enjoyment.

If that is beyond your price range however, make sure you at least get a direct drive turn table. Belt driven ones are quite nasty.

Smoking ..umm..something

I would say go with Technic 1200's either MKII or M3D...it will save you in the long run..cuz eventually you are gonna want the Technics anyway...

Technics decks are no doubt the cream of the crop, but any other decks are aslo fine if your just starting up.Even beltdrive decks are ok to learn on.

Technics 1200s are the only way to go. But if you have to settle for something less, make sure it's direct drive and preferably something with a heavy platter and lots of tourque. Direct drives are driven by electromagnetic power thereforeyou can stop them dead or spin `em backwards if you want without causing any damage. With a belt drive, you've got a seperate motor with basically a giant rubberband around that and the platter and if you try and stop them (by holding the platter still) or spin them backwards, it's gonna probably tug real bad making your needle bounce all over the place not to mention putting stress on the belt which in time will cause it to break or stretch out of shape. Go with direct drive and if you can afford it....go with Technics 1200s

Read This! Vestax

I have the Vestax PMC-270a and it is a quality product....most Vestax mixers are quality...there are others as well... I guess it all depends on how many inputs you need and whether or not you are only gonna use vinyl or if you plan to use cd's as well...

Get 1200's....if you find you don't want to stick with spinning you can always get your money back for them...selling them online for what you payed for them is not hard.
