Trance ? Techno ? House ?

Hey everyone,

Everytime I come on this forum, I find a new kind of submusic, like psy-trance, progressive, uplifting, etc..

I was just wondering which kind of trance you guys liked, and at the same time you could tell us a song that would express your definition of that music.

personally, I'm into

UPLIFTING TRANCE.
CYGNUS X - SUPERSTRING (RANK 1 REMIX)

Now it's your turn !

tribal house all the way..

Posted by discojoe on Dec-21-2002 23:15:

i love tribal techno! tribal is the sound of 2003 its the next big thing. Bye bye prog house.

hey man the only way you know is to just listen to alot of different styles. It takes time. I could give you a definition of each but the line is so blurred between genres. Its just a feeling you get you know which is which. Every genre has certain common elements though. For example techno is straight repetion. Its all about loops. Trance is the music of melodies. And house usually has a complex baseline and often a funky feeling. But then you start mixing them and you get subgenres. And they just all have a feeling to them. There is no real way to describe them. You just have to listen to it enough.

beaks the next trend? sounds good. as long as they dont do some kind of progressive breaks :P

I think Trance will be bigger than ever!!

Breaks and nu-school breaks is really underground music and it's not for the masses.

Posted by exergo on Dec-28-2002 12:00:

i like 2 style of trance

-epic and uplifting trance (dutch styles)
avb, ferry, tiesto, pulser etc.

-harder nu nrg / acid trance
madam zu, mark eg, s4, bk, etc.

and then guys like christopher lawrence and john 00 play the perfect combination : )

as well, any good music is good...house, breaks, jungle, the only thing i disslike is techno and some progreesive house....to boring for my liking..

I have to agree with Biggy that Trance is definitely not goin anywhere. It's definitely not dead. With the like of Tiesto, PVD, Armin and Ferry Corsten all in the top ten for djs Trance is becoming huge. Which means Biggy, you'll be needing to get PVD soon!

i hope it wont happen..
this year i was at Stereo when Special K and Creamer played the so-called BREAKS, and let me tell u, i had serious troubles making my body move to those (got it after a while).

anyhow, it was to slow for me i guess
Its not a style of music that would put ure hands in the air and make u jump like you just saw jesus smiling to you.

to me
style : Hard-trance
song: dj energy - excelsis (shokk mix)

chap

ya at BEB 2003 with armin and miss b

can someone define breaks for me? the last time i heard a breaks mix..i thought it sounded a lot like prog house..so whats the deal?

Posted by mastercongo on Dec-29-2002 00:33:

check mostly any tune by hybrid deli

Posted by discojoe on Dec-29-2002 20:35:

Breakbeats refer to the beats only, its just a different type of beat than 4 to the floor. So a breaks song could have trance melodies or a prog house atmospheric ambience.
