Track of the year opinion

I recently listened to Solar Stone's Solarcoaster and Oakie's Souther Sun (Tiesto mix) again to figure out why a lot of TAs voted for them.

And guess what

I can't figure it out

Solarcoaster is a simple song with a simple melody repeated all over and all over again. It is above average AT BEST, but not Track of the Year material AT ALL

Southern sun is better, but not Track of the Year material either

Fuck, if solarcoaster wins, I'm going to be really pissed.

WTF does it matter what wins?!? Nobody gets anything for voting for the winning track. Different people have different opinions on what they like. Just because you don't like a track doesn't mean that many other people can't like it. I wouldn't vote for either of these for track of the year, but I certainly understand how someone could. In my opinion as well as some others the Tiesto remix isn't even the best remix of Southern Sun, let alone track of the year, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect the opinion of those who think it is. Quit worrying about what other people think and listen to and vote for what you like. In the end that is what's important.

Its worse when some one votes for a track that is just getting plays from a DJ. Like "Midway - Inca". I heard some-one say it was the track of the year but they have only heard it 3 times or something, stupid.

Its shit now, but that because i have listened to it everyday from September 2001 untill November 2002, amazing.

I wouldn't call those tracks of the year... But they probably are to different people. There's better tracks than Solarcoaster, problem is not as many people know about them, that's why they don't get voted for. Quality is needed but so is promotion & play-time.

Solarcoaster and Southern Sun (Tiesto Mix) are both beautiful tracks, but I just can't see either of them being tune of the year. They're too laid back... they just don't have the energy to make me go wild and crazy on the dance floor like some of the classics from previous years (Urban Train, Souvenir De Chine, etc.) My vote for track of the year would go to Signum - Second Wave or Gouryella - Ligaya (Airbase Remix) because those tracks just make me wanna lose myself to their orgasmic melodies and floor-filling synths. Solarcoaster just doesn't do that for me.

Ligaya is nice, but those vocals are yucky... The synthwork is nice, compared to a lot of stuff I've heard with a whole lot of synths meshed up into a cosmic mess... Aaarg, I visited the synthesiser disco site again yesterday... I cant believe how bad some people can make synths sound.
