Santa Deals with Political Correctness...

[from orsm.net]

SANTA DEALS WITH POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck... How to live in a world that's politically correct? His workers no longer would answer to "Elves", "Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.

And labour conditions at the North Pole were alleged by the union to stifle the soul. Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety, released to the wilds by the Humane Society.

And equal employment had made it quite clear that Santa had better not use just reindeer. So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid, were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

The runners had been removed from his sleigh; the ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A. and people had started to call for the cops when they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.

Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened. His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened."

And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows, Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose and had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation, demanding millions in over-due compensation.

So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife, who suddenly said she'd enough of this life, joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz, Demanding from now on her title was Ms.

And as for the gifts, why, he'd never had a notion that making a choice could cause so much commotion. Nothing of leather, nothing of fur, which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.

Nothing that might be construed to pollute. Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot. Nothing that clamoured or made lots of noise. Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.

Nothing that claimed to be gender specific. Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific. No candy or sweets... they were bad for the tooth. Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth. And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden, were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden. For they raised the hackles of those psychological who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.

No baseball, no football... someone could get hurt; besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt. Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe; and Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.

So Santa just stood there, dishevelled, perplexed; he just could not figure out what to do next. He tried to be merry, tried to be gay, but you've got to be careful with that word today.

His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground; nothing fully acceptable was to be found. Something special was needed, a gift that he might give to all without angering the left or the right.

A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision, each group of people, every religion; every ethnicity, every hue, everyone, everywhere... even you. So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth... "May you and your loved ones enjoy peace on earth."

I don't know if you've heard, but there's been a kindergarden in australia which recently banned santa clause and put a clown instead, so that children of muslim faith wouldn't be insulted.

IMHO political correctness is total crap. People ARE different, and there's no point in denying that. Females are different than males, girls are usually different from boys. There are differences not only in psychological composition, but in physical and chemical as well. To force equality where there isn't one is not a good idea, because that usually bounces back like a boomerang. Mind here that I'm not sexist and I think that f and m should be equal in their rights and obligations to society.

But the kind of political correctness which causes stuff like the thing with santa above is totally stupid. If people who move in to another country can't accept that countries ideals and traditions, they shouldn't move there in the first place. Those politically correct countries make themselves less atractive for tourists, because they lose their identitiy. Imagine you go to, say, India to see some big hindu ceremony, and then you find out it's been canceled because there are 5 christian and muslim guys living there and they may find it offensive. Why did you then go there in the first place? You wanted to see something different, didn't you? It is basically an attempt to remove the differences and to make all people look the same, even though they aren't. And the country which supports political correctness the most is of course, who else than the US. And in that very same country on the other hand, every few months someone gets a gun and shoots 20 people. It seems to me that by forcing people to be so non-offensive is making some of them release their agression in such ways. Now, it's not ok to insult someone because he's from, say, Iran, but to completely change countries traditions so he won't get insulted is total crap. If it would be bothering him, he'd stay home. Since he came, it obviously isn't a problem. Hell, I'm an atheist, and still I don't see anything wrong with santa claus.

LMFAO!!
That's sad.
Exectly where in the bible is santa mentioned? There is nothing religious what so ever about santa. Political corectness junkies could at least make sure they are educated before taking actions.
I must say I hate political corectness. Waste of time.

Off-top:
Are you a "fan" of the old SFRJ?

Well, yes. Compared to what we have here now, I think it was better then. Besides, some members of my family were in high positions there also, due to their actions in WW2

Santa comes from celebrating the St. Nicholaus day mixed with north europe traditions, so in that way it has something to do with religion.

What's very strange is that we're always politicly correct towards muslims but not towards jews...

Posted by TranceGiant on Dec-24-2002 14:21:

Dunno

probably because the threat of maximum 20 million ppl diffused all over the world is not as big as the the one of 1 billion muslims

Lol, I've just seen on tv an american santa clause movie or something, and some elves were blacks. It's stupid to force black people into legends where they aren't involved.
I don't know if you've noticed, but lately in movies which have storyline that doesn't really allow for black people to be in it (i.e. medieval europe) there's always at least one black. There was also some thought on forging historical evidence. For example, for the picture of the NY firefighters after the WTC incident, they pulled in a few people who weren't firefighters, but were hispanic and black to pose, because almost all firefighters were white, and they wanted it to look more multi-racial. Seems like soon there's gonna be historical movies in which say, Churchill will be portrayed by a black actor, or say, Shaka Zulu by a white one. Otherwise the actors might sue the state for racism. Also, there was a Time magazine cover which had a picture of student graduation ceremony or something like that, and a black guy's face was inserted in the original image. Don't know why they did it, maybe to show there are many non-white people at college too?
In my opinion, that will only create an opposite effect, because political correctness is crap which most people don't like, because it's displaying things in the way they are not. Considering who's in power now in the US, that may be the purpose.
