Who likes classical music here?

I used to love classical music, maybe that's why I took to trance so eagerly. I recently dug out my old classical mp3 backups and the fire has rekindled. My favourite composers are the major ones: Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and Rachmaninoff. My favourite piece is either Beethoven's 3rd symphony or Mozart's Requiem mass. I find classical music to be very moving and it evokes powerful feelings whenever I listen to it.

Thoughts?

i love classical music too...u know what really rocks...classical trance..i have tons of classical music with hard bass beats one of my favorites right now is vivaldi vs. enigma...mozart - okay dragon is pretty good too

compared to many tas im not as educated about classical music but i love classical music too it relaxes me. love piano/orchestral stuff hehehe my all time fave by far is Canon In D Minor by Pachabel. i also enjoy mostly the well known composers like Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Mozart, and Handel. i also admire many of the more recent composers like Richard Clayderman, Ryuichi Sakamoto, John Williams and, Hans Zimmer.

yea, it samples the song from requiem for a dream...which i think was origianlly written by Mozart (not to sure about that. In requiem the song was performed by clint mansell and the kronos quartet.

classical music must be appreciated. without it we would not have much of the music we have today including trance

I too am a devoted classical music fan!
A complete classical freak!!!! I frequently buy classical mags, books, DVD's, and CD's.
And I also agree that if it were not for classical music in general, most of todays music would not exist. One major step in the world of music was Bach's first Well Tempered Clavir Book. It was earth-shattering in terms of harmony and scale structure, and it still has quite a significant impact today.

Bach would be my all time favourtie composer, followed by Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, and the usual list.
Favourite piece would be Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 25. Absolutely tuneage!!!! hehehe Next would be Bach's Goldberg Variations!

It is indeed a shame that Fine music is indeed soooo under-rated in today's times. And to make it even worse, the younger generation are growing up thinking that the likes of Britney Spears and N'sync are musical gods! I myself am 19 years old now, and been into classical for the last 5 years. Sometimes I think that I'm the only teenager who actually cares about classical music hehe I could like name you the top 20 conductors and which orchestra's they conduct for. Tiz a lonely in the world of classical music...

I agree ! I think trance has evovled from classical music

Classical Music is one of the best things!
Like electronic music I could hear it all the day.

huh??? if ur asking me for songs..what i ussually do is type in a composers name in kazaa and type mix after it... ie "mozart mix" or "mozart remix" tons of stuff come up that way

its a remix of the 17th cenutury Venecian composer Tomasco Albinoni. It is very much in the style of another classic trance remix: Wiliam Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix)

is Rollerball - Albinoni (Above and beyond mix) the same as the original ? because I know that Above and beyond are behind Rollerball

i loveeee hans zimmers work. i can recognize it when i hear it while watching a movie. his gladiator soundtrack is really great and he also did the soundtrack for we were soldiers, again, very emotional classical music, it almost made me cry while wathcing the movie...

i like classical music a lot. it's so complex and ingenious!

i hate opera, though..

i listen to classical music once in a while. hans zimmer's soundtracks, hmmz so nice. vanessa mae's violin. hmmmm...

I believe that in that era, there were tons of talented artists whose works are still unrecognized.....just like how everyone of us are discovering new tunes every other day....

I go to sleep everyday listening to classical tunes...anyone with cable should be able to tune in to some continuous radio thingy on the TV...

Anyhows, many trance producers do listen to classical music to invoke samples into their current productions....heard a couple of samples over the weeks....sounds almost like an ambient remix of what we hear everyday....

Most composers have some song or another entitled "Requiem"-something. Has anyone mentioned Shostakovich for modern composers? Such angry/emotional music. I'd have to say for moderns he's a favourite, but I also like Berlioz, Vivaldi, Tchaikovski, Brahms, and I LOVE Bach fugues on organ. I really do think that I like trance so much because of the similarities between it and classical music, since I've played classical music myself for years. Can't help but like trance!

does anyone think our trance will be considered classical 200 years from now...or will trance just fade away???

i doubt it will ever be classical 200 years from now, at least in the musical sense. classical as in yeah, it's old and it's quality lol i don't think it will ever be acknowledge by the mass population as anything remotely classical. ppl are so fussy when it comes to defining and categorizing musical genre. even many tas refuse to call trance the modern day classical music, ya know? but as for trance the genre, i doubt it will just fade away. it may never be mainstream enough to be considered a cultural revolution or anything as grand but i think we are doing more than enough to leave our marks in history

Gotta love classical, its so calming! I love trance tunes with piano keys like most Minimalistix tracks..

i was wondering where i've heard that melody before....

i'm a classical musician too, played the violin and viola for over 12 years now, but recent years i've been playing the turntables

anyhow, in regards to lux aeterna in 'requiem for a dream', it is NOT composed by any classical composer. It is by Clint Mansell, who composed all of the soundtrack for the movie. He may have sampled from some obscure classical pieces, but that string line in 'lux aeterna' is a lil' too repetitive and cliche'd to be considered classical music. at most, maybe 20th century/contemporary classical music. random piece of info: lux aeterna means eternal light in Latin...fitting eh?

my favorite classical piece at the moment: Rimsky-Karsakov "Scheherazade Op. 35, 2nd mvt". imo, no classical piece tells a story as moving as this.
