-- Washington DC/Baltimore clubs+people?
Hey all..
Just wondering, how many people from the DC area are on this forum? If any, what clubs do you go to, and how often? It would be cool to talk to some of you and get some insight into the scene. I've only been to 2 clubs in DC and I like them both, but I'd like to visit more.
Post something if you live around here.. Maryland/Virginia/DC area.

Anyone else?
Btw, tonim, do you have ICQ or AIM?
I'm from Baltimore, MD.
Well, in Baltimore they have some trance/techno clubs, but in those clubs the focus is not on music, but on girls
I think the clubs for good music are only in DC and Rockville. I've been there several times.
Rockville? You gotta be kidding me.. I live here, and I don't know of a single club around me. Which one are you talking about?
Well, you can visit
http://www.absolut-nightlife.com/
They used to be in Rockville, now moved to Bethesda. Still pretty close, I suppose.
Pretty good international trance/techno. Interestingly, they also spin Russian techno-dance, which is a separate class of techno music in its own right.
I gotta check that place out. I live right on the border between Rockville and Bethesda.. 30 mins from downtown DC by car, 50 minutes from Baltimore.. One of the best places to live, IMO
I from near college park. there is nothing here except for the school, nothingness and some fine girls that go there. i only goto dc to see good international dj playing wherever they play. do anyone want to meet, if u live around here?
Btw, I just found a kickass site for DC nightlife.. check it out. I'm browsing through the Dance Club list and there is like a hundred clubs out here.. I gotta hit some of them next week

I just moved from Baltimore, I use to Dj there. In my opinion the best night out in D.C is GLOW at Club Zei, make sure you go when George acosta is playing
*spits out drink* Glow? No way in hell is Glow a good club.. I am confused whether half the people there are drunk or just don't know how to dance.
When me and krusader first got there during the Tiesto gig, there were a ton of guys dancing and very few women. I thought to myself "man, finally a place where guys don't stand around the bar and look dumb". Then, of course, it turned out that most of them were gay and thus had more skillz than straight dorks who do nothing but stand around =P
I think Glow sucks. The sound system is ok, but the air is too hot and humid, the club is not comfortable at all, security looks like shit, we saw the bouncers beating some dude up outside before getting into the club.. plus the lines are huge, etc.
It seems hardly worth it, unless you really need an all-night DC rave.. I wouldn't go to Glow unless there was a decent DJ spinning.
Platinum is waaaay more fun if you're a good dancer
I never said the people at GLOW were cool, half of the crowd doesn't apprecitate the music. Try going when its ACOSTANATION and I think you'll have a different opinion thats one of the only nights I'd go.
The problem with GLOW is that nobody knows who the hell is spinning, the DJs are seated on the second floor.
Ideally the DJ should be close to the crowd, he should interact with the crowd, and the crowd should see how the DJ gets a kick from spinning, changing vinyl, measuring the beats, etc.
Also, the acoustics at GLOW are pretty bad, the music sounds too bassy.
zei is a horrible venue. i have to admit, they have had some amazing talent there in the past few months. still, i would never go there, not even for tiesto.
nennon, my icq number is 94510203
yujie, it would be nice to meet some dc tranceaddicts
I lived in Rockville, MD for five years and I got to say that MD/DC/NVA sucks. Thanks!

fuck glow... i only go there because its the only place i can see some decent fucking international talent... ive gone there 2 times now... for atb and tiesto... for atb they had a big projection screen on the opposite wall from where he was spinning... too bad it took me almost an hour to find out where he was actually spinning... because they *PACKED* the place... literally packed... meaning you couldnt really dance unless you were on one of the platforms
and both times ive gone there ive left SOAKED... too the bone... because the dont ventilate the fucking place at all... imo... if they had HALF the guests/residents there at motion in philly... i would jizz my pants... motion is a pretty awesome venue in itself... an old warehouse that they modded and its actually not boiling inside, got a nice system... and a crowd that REALLY appreciates the music... unfortunately, they havent really gotten a bunch of internationally recognized dj's (most likely due to clubs being legally required to close at 2:30am)
glow definitely sucks... i cant wait until im 19 so i can get into buzz when im in dc...
I'll be 19 soon, so nyah
I'm going to Buzz 2-3 times in August for sure, after I get back from my July vacation.. hah.
What up guys...
Another Balto tranceaddict here...
Zei, yup that club is definitely hurt, dj's are decent sometimes. Buzz has some big names once in a while, but over all that place kinda sucks, once you've been there alot (dave seaman was damn good though). New party to replace fever is coming in june, but I know the girl running it, don't expect to many trance headliners, unfortunately. I myself usually travel around to catch the bigger names.
Another note, starscape is coming...i'll definitely be at that one, again no big trance guys, chris lawerence is headlining, but he has yet to impress me yet.
aim: havok118 if anyone wants to get in contact.
peace
