damn...all that time down the drain!

i was trying to download a movie clip of john (johan) gielen, spinnin @ trance energy from Kazaa. its a huge download(around 165 mb)...and all i got is my wimpy little 56k.

i begin tha download for a few hours, but due to sleep deprivation, i disconnect and decide to finish later on.

i wasnt online at all till now, i check the download....its not there. the .DAT file that was the download in progress isnt in my shared folder any more.

now i have to start from scratch!!!! the largest file ive ever attempted to download w/ my wimpy little modem, and now i gotta start over!

here is a thought. Send a CDR and a self addressed return envelope to a Chicago TA and they can burn it onto disc for you. Are you really going to let your modem run for a day just for that 11 minute set?

hmmm. good thinking! i was gunna let it run all nite, cuz im up that long anyway, but id rather use what little bandwidth i have to download sumthin better than a little 11 min. set.

Dont get me wrong, the set is good, and the visuals within Trance Energy are simply amazing from that year. and i was wrong it is 14:31 minutes long according to my footage. Let her rip all nite and just pray you can resume it if it fails again

lol.. 160 megabytes doesn't even TOUCH hardcore for a 56k modem. Hardcore is downloading beatmania 5th and 6th mix (2 playstation games)... grand total is well over 600 megs xDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I download files that big all the time on my 56K! The biggest files I downloaded were 3 650 MB Mandrake Linux 8.2 CD images. Total was 1.95 GB! I did that over a 2 week period using www.LinuxISO.org and GetRight to download them.

my largest on 56k was win xp pro over 400 mb
the usual largest is 150-200mb livesets, but i'm more into singles so i don't have much time for them

The biggest thing I ever downloaded on my 56k was Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, almost 3 years ago now. It's was about 140mb big It took me about 10 hours. Luckily, I have ADSL now (1mbit)

these days i spend my bandwidth on 160Mb livesets and sometimes 300Mb videos
