Question

I've nevr actually noticed any negative questions being asked out on these forums! sorry to lower the tone but who would people rate as the shittest professional Trance DJ out there at the moment its quite a hard one, cos I haven't ever seen the one I dislike the most play, but he's on the radio and that is one Mr Dave 'Fat Bastard King of Cheez' Pearce! (how much I'd love to put a boring bastard progressive house DJ there)! But lets just keep this Trance Djs!

Posted by nennon on May-09-2001 23:58:

DJ Skribble.. I wouldn't call him a trance DJ, but he tried to mess around with a few trance songs, so.. Ugh.

Smoking ..umm..something

Never heard of that one but the name sounds bad, can gues he ruined some choons with that name!

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-10-2001 00:07:

DJ skribble...yeah he's not that great imo. but he did a pretty good set @ ultra3 so i hear.

Whoa this guy really is popular! whats his style? is he just Cheesy? boring? or a complete rip off merchant?

Posted by Ckerr812 on May-10-2001 03:09:

I think all the bad DJ's would be hard to name cause there so many of them!!!!...LoL And you probably will forget them after you heard them....personally I don't have any DJ's (international anyway, In toronto I could name some) that I really think are crap..... Even DJ jean get slammed on the board but I can stand some of his sets....

Posted by nennon on May-10-2001 07:23:

DJ Skribble has a contract for MTV, he is the network's resident DJ - which means he performs at 3-4 of their shows, hosts specials, etc. I know that he is a good DJ technically, but the music he plays completely sucks.. But I guess doing top 40 remixes and playing various rap constantly is what pays the bills.

I don't have any serious beef with the man himself, I just hate his music.

Posted by Dirty Trancer on May-10-2001 10:31:

Yeah, 100%
Dave "I'm a useless piece of fat shit and wouldn't know a good choone if it ran up behind me and sunk its teeth into me arse" Pearce is fucking PISH! He's typical of what I consider popular trance, trance that has been bastardised into dance, and presented to the ignorant masses as trance.

Have you seen his Dance Years, late on a Friday night? Its a good idea, as it brings back some good memories of choones that were around years ago - it started with 1987 and some mad acid house stuff - but to see that fat fuck in a baseball cap in his stupid reinforced titanium chair pisses me off big time!

Naw, haven't heard of DJ Skribble. Probably not as PISH as Pearce though.
Pish itself couldn't be as PISH as him....

Skribble is a 5'8 hispanic guy with a buzz cut that doesn't even bother looking at the crowd during MTV shows.. the network just sticks him a playlist and he goes with it. He's more of a robot than a DJ.. He's just there to fill the needs of the network.. and we all know how much MTV sucks in the States.. there are maybe 3 good shows on MTV every season, the rest blows.

However, Skribble looks like Hercules compared to the resident DJ at Platinum (the club I go to in DC).. the DJ there is like a 5'0 hispanic midget that wears "I don't give a fuck" t-shirts or something, and tries to look important by walking around the dance floor and checking the equipment before the club gets crowded. 9/10 girls at Platinum are taller than him, it's hilarious

He drives a silver fully-equipped BMW and parks it right in front of the club. I remember a time when a cop had to go into the OPPOSITE traffic lane to get around him.. and he didn't get a ticket (of course).

Platinum wouldn't be as fun without him though.. He is very good technically, and he reads the crowd well - probably more so than any other DJ I've seen.

Out of boredom, I dug up the tracklists for Skribble's MTV-sponsored CDs.

HAHA Dave Pearce and Skribble seen like the shitters of the scene. Julesy thats a hard one though he went completely wank about 5 months ago but his been playing a lot less cheese on his show recently, he was wicked last year up to september, I've seen him play four times twice this year and twice last year last year he was good, this year he was shit playing Higates 'We've gotta work it out' and Citzen Caned 'The Journey' really shit cheesy stuff which has been made on a casio keyboard meant for eight year olds.

Posted by Ckerr812 on May-10-2001 13:37:

Posted by Dirty Trancer on May-10-2001 14:21:

Idea

I tell you what would be brilliant-
if you got hold of Pearce's or Skribble's email address and sent them the link to this thread, just so they could see what people were saying about them, and maybe change their ways.
Isn't Pearce's [email protected]? But he's in India now so its [email protected]....
Although it should be [email protected]...

Skribble is in it for the $$$. It's funny that i've never seen that guy talk so much til they had that special on how to be a hip hop mogul. Bling Bling must had come out of his mouth 100x. Like i've said on other message boards, he deserves a public lynching by the music industry. He even had to steal the 'essential' name from Tong's EM for his title. Cheap a$$ bastard. He is a shame to the whole industry.

As for the rest of the bad/cheesy ones, I would normally have been tearing them apart, but i've been thinking differently about them recently. I think that gateway DJs (like they say that a gateway drug leads to others) like Oakie and Jules have their purpose here. Compared to Skid Mark Skribbles, they're a decent introduction to dance/trance. With so many people nowadays being new to the scene, roles like this are necessary to transition people to bigger and better things. If they truely love the music, and aren't into the scene for other reasons, it just makes sense that they'll learn eventually. I could be wrong, but I take it as just a more positive spin on it.

Not that i'm ever gonna say their music is good...

Posted by patticus on May-10-2001 16:06:

i dont like skribble. because i generally dont like rap/hip-hop djs except maybe those guys they show on The Source show... they seem real talented. i only knew skribble from the cindy margolis show (yum!) but as soong as i heard/saw him i lost all respect. heard of his forays into "trance" if thats what you wanna call it... but considering that cd is called spring break 2001, looks like the man has much catching up to do, and even more to learn. horrible

but to be honest i had a rather favorable impression of dave pearce, his dance anthems tour/show is quite popular?
i mean its not like he passes it off as being new and/or progressive. a lot of the people on this site would love him, i bet. just look at the tracklistings

Posted by The Greek on May-11-2001 03:08:

yes i agree..dj sckribble is an ass..what can we do he wants to make money so he'll butcher the music by mixing a couple of 3 year old tracks in between his tu pac and britney spears singles..spring break 2001? more like spring break 99..this guy is pathetic i cant stand him he plays one track and all of a sudden he is moving in "new directions" and playing "trance".. trance my ass what a fukin poser this guy is he wouldnt know trance if it hit him in the face!!

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on May-11-2001 04:28:

Worst of all, he'll play "dance versions" of american pop music (which is basically a song with an added beat and a few new effects). Spring Break 2001 on MTV was a great example of the shit he plays most of the time.

This Skribble is the fucking antichrist like Dave Pearce, 'Hello Dave I want to hear ATB 9pm till I come' I swear when that came out I heard my nan humming it! Yeah his show drives me fucking mental 'Hello Dave I want to hear Marc et Claude I need your loving like the sunshine!' God he's vugler even more cheesy then a fucking slice of Brie! and mings like it to!
