Review: Destiny's NYE: Megacity
Hey guys! It's 7.11am and i just got back from destiny.
the night started off by me and elmo-on-xtc going to the meet up place (country style) just to see it was closed. so i didnt meet up with anyone. i walked upto the line with elmo-on-xtc and all i could say was 'oh shit'. 'oh shit' was an understatement. we waited in line for a good 1hr45mins before we got in. It wasnt TOO bad though because once we got in, we cut in line int he coat check

I walked into viva to see that the main room wasnt as packed as i thought it would be. they only had the lazers on for ryan ruckus in the main room and in the tent they had christmas lights, and a black light. it was pretty shitty but oh well, i liked the tent; i could actually talk to the person next to me without screaming my lungs out (although i still had to yell).
I got in at around 11 ish and Ryan Ruckus was on the decks spinning his jungle. I sorta like jungle, and wouldnt mind listening to it live but the FUCKING MC RUINED IT!! so i went into the tent just to see what was goin on in there and there was some boring slow breakbeats playin so i went back to the main room. again the MC ruined it. "HAPPY BUMBOCLAT NEW YEAR!!!!" get out of here..
The Unibomber kind of dissapointed me. His music was pretty boring and monotonous (to me anyways). As i was dancin there i decided to crack my ULTRAs and i guess Ken (mot1on) saw the bright light and he found me. (note to self: ALWAYS bring ultras to a party if you want to be found 
)
We then made our way to the main room when the jungle came back on in the tent, just to find the main room was PAAAAAAAACKED. some how Flec comes out of no where and we meet him, and then SAGE comes out of no where and we meet him too. what are the chances of that?
Madam Zu played an excellent set with banging hardcore beats.
Then Jello & Dekozee came on and the RAISED THE MOTHA FUCKIN ROOF!! both Jello and Dekozee were really into their sets, especially Jello, headbangin to the max. the played some very good tech-trance.
Then the DRAGONFLY came on. Honestly I dont know why they had this guy play last, he should have been one of the headliners. This guy played some AMAZING tunes and has SICK turntablism skills. hes right on beat. This guy goes INSANE when he spins. Jumping about, pouring his drink in people's mouths, tearing off his shirt etc..
All in all a very great night. The music was OK but the thing that made this night so great was the CROWD. you could strike up a conversation with anyone. everyone was so friendly.
crowd - 10/10
music - 7/10
line - 0/10 (if there is any line, it always gets 0/10

Ok, got to the venue and saw the insane line .... seriously RETARDED !!! Thanks to DeepGroove & Viva MGMT for the hook up and connection, my crew and I got in within' 2 secs.
Venue: WOW ...first time at Viva, sounds system,lightin' and LAZERS were beyond everything I've seen and heard.
Ryan Rukus was slick ... loved the FIYA remix tune at the end
"TOTAL SCIENCE" were amazing !!! *loved the fireworks at midnight !!!* Q Project was the one who stole the show !!! Heard enuff new remixes and dubs and I can't belive how )EIB( - More FIYA had that much bass to it. I think he turn the bass full blast
I HAD SOOOOOO MUCH FUN !!! The party went down hill from here ...

#1 WAYYYYY TOOO many ppl, this party made Labour of Love look like nothing !!! Destiny you guys went to far.... you guys should of capped the tickets sales. *I wanted to hear Marcus's set, but never made it outside b/c of the massive traffic jam that was 10ft away from the path that lead up to the tent* Most rammed party ever !!!
#2 The clubb owners were charging insane amount for beer ($5.75) and even raised it to $8.00 near last call. Bartenders were a bunch of bitches and ignored everyone.
#3 A lot of ppl missed the count down !!!
#4 MC CADDY should never be allowed to MC to headliners again ... the guy would not SHUT UP !!! Barely heard Total Science's set. He MCed over Groverobber's and Madum Zu's set !!!! (How can you MC over trance ???) So damn sick of hearing his voice all night long
#5 Washrooms were insane to get to.
#6 No lazers for anyone after Ryan Rukus
Heard 2 or more ppl ODed or passed out. When I left at 3:30am, this was the time I had enuff of this over packed party ... saw all the cop cars and fire dept outside.
It was wicked to see many faces !!! Respectz to, my GF, Christine, Jodi, Malice, LiquidChick, Matt and all the ppl I bumped into <---I really mean "BUMPED into !!!"
Honestly Destiny ... NEVER should you guys over sell and ramm parties like that, I know you guys have to recover from all the loses from previous events ... but nuff ppl would of seriously gotten hurt from tonight. If you guys have 2 rooms .... make them equal sizes for GOD sakes !!!

The party got shut down at 5:45, so I don't know where you're coming up with this Drag'n'Fly bullshit. The guy never hit the decks. The lights came up on Jelo and Deko-ze.

Viva Nightclub security could have at least made 2 lines to move ppl in faster. I froze out there for 1 hour and 30 mins. The night was perfect except for:
It was nutz in there!
As for the main lazer, it had a heart-attack hence why it didn't work most of the night. Management are fixing it as we speak!!
Didn't get to hear Deko-Ze's set, but I knew it was going to rock.
Glad to hear that all you new peeps liked the set-up!!

My Review:
We got to viva nightclub at around 8:30. The line was huge! Thanks to some connections we cut in near the front. 
We still did not enter till 10:00 because viva opened the doors some time after 9:00, I believe, and lots of people were just cutting in the front.
Got in just at the end of Luke's set. Some nice tunes but everyone was entering the club and there was very little dancing.
Then Dr. Trance came on. Very nice night opener for many people. I give him much respect just for the person that he is, for everything that he has done to trance, and the culture.
Ryan Ruckus came on. Its my first time experiencing jungle at a party. And I must say, wow, I've been missing something. Ryan Ruckus' set was amazing, then Total Science was even better. I was dying, my legs were falling off but I couldn't stop. I was having soo much fun. Never noticed I liked jungle that much. I would listen to it at home, but at a party, just wow!
Also, Grooverobber, very nice breaks. I was throwing all four limbs in the air while dancing. 
Then Madam Zu came on. Very hard trance. Loved it. She was amazing. Sadly I had to leave half way through her set. 
There was no place to sit, literally. The couches were taken and you couldn't just collapse on the dance floor because the dance floor was packed with people like sardines. My legs were FALLING off. I think I managed to glue one on when I came back home...
So what can I conclude?
Lotsa pain in legs = lotsa dancing = lotsa fun = great night!
And thats what it was. Absolutely amazing. The sets were flawless, the crowd was stinky but its all good.
I was also happy to see the old rave culture. Haven't been to an event like this in a long time. People were amazingly nice, excpet for the countless asian old men. They were all either drug dealers or pimps. Just standing at the side... what a sad way to spend the new years.
Well thats that for me.
O, and ear plugs work beautifuly with jungle. It gets rid of the screeching, and the loud bass that sounds terrible and what you get it just amazing music. Very clear, absolutely magnifiscent bass. Just nice,... very nice

the dnb and the primitive breaks were too much for me, i left the party around 3..i had enuff
i couldnt get into it..and the MC made the situtation even more annoying

Madam Zu was FUCKING AMAZING!!! what the hell was that? Hard Trance and NRG? She was awseme, I couldn't ID any of those songs, but I think im gonna have to go do some searching on this
Jelo & Dekoze Was insane as well! So much energy from those guys, they go nutz in the booth. Jelo's neck must be killing him from those massive head bobbings. Drag n Fly ended the set (I didn't know it till it was over, he looked like Dekoze hahah) and he was awseme as well! He really got the people dancing.
The people there were great, except the Chinese guy who got a little violent in the tent like Nytehawk said. People were friendly, very energetic and didn't complain about anything.
The line....well that really sucked, then having to face another long line for the coats in the end
But it was a great party, I had a great time. Saw Highroller, Motion, Sage, I saw Flec but I didn't know it was him

I stand corrected. I was actually out at the jungle tent for the second half of the set, and didn't come back in until the rumour that the party was going to end early had made it way around.
whats up with the junglists towel dancing? they put a towel around their neck and dance with it.. i must have seen about 50 people doing this. do they bring towels to the party just to do their strange dance?

wow i didn't expect this.
I brought my minidisc player last night cuz i wanted to listen to some stuff while in line. Anyways, i hooked my headphones up to my microphone slot and wanted to see how well it would pick up the music. I record almost all of Unibombers set, and it actually sounds good! (quality wise) you can hear people (including me) in the background a bit but im surprised how well it came out...
maybe i'll rip it later and let you guys listen to it, it was a kinda boring set tho
Last night was the first time I partied at Viva, even though I'm AZN I refuse to hit that clubb on a reg. night. I can't stand those 40+ AZN sketch pads at all.

TRANCE saved the night !!!
Spent an hour and a half in line, (missed sets that i woulda enjoyed) got in 15min before countdown. For me it didn't even feel like we were bringing in the new year, and since I'm not a fan of dnb/jungle either it kinda made it less enjoyable. There was a nice vibe throughout the club and I like the layout/soundsystem, but it was WAAAAAAAY too crowded. Around 1AM you couldn't even move around from main room to tent.
Something shoulda been done about the lineup. The music styles should've been a little more mixed (ie. not have consecutive dnb/junlge sets). Watching Total Science spin was amazing. I never really got into the party cause I didn't like the music. I liked the tent more over the main room (lot less noise and music i could dance to) We had enough of it and left around 3.
crowd 7/10
music 5/10 (total science's set was nice.. lots energy)
club 8/10 (too many people though)
dancers 11/10

The trance started to kick in at 3am!!! with Madam Zu, followed by Jelo vs Dekoze then Drag n Fly
There was no special reason for it closing at 6am...it just did...all the dj's went on and all

AMAZING party, what would make it better? less of a line, and not as jammed.
music was outstanding ( i love jungle and trance) madam zu was pumping the ENTIRE set, she just doesnt quit!!
Highroller and Mot1on good seeing you breifly, but i had to go back to my friends as i had just found them again lol, try and figure out that track name :P

well, i just got up from my after-the-drive-back-to-buffalo nap. we got there at like 1030 to see the absolutely rediculous line, but we were lucky enough to get in on the guest list. i wouldnt have wanted to spend midnite outside in the cold. got in just in time to see the end of dr. trance, then wandered around a bit into the tent and back, go back in to see total science for the countdown, who spun a good set, though not really my type of music. not being a fan of d&b, jungle, breaks, and esp with the mc who didnt shut up, i was getting pretty tired and bored, and was just about to leave when madam zu came on and absolutely owned! her set along with jelo and deko-ze totally saved the nite for me why werent the lasers on for the whole last half of the nite?? only other complaint i had was about the coat check when we were leaving, i was soooo glad to just get my own coat back after the chaos going on there.
music (before 3am) - 3/10
music (after 3am) - 9/10
crowd - 7/10
coat check - 0/10
EVERYONE in the jungle room hates Caddy Cad !!! On TorontoJungle.com, there are multi Caddy-Hate threads. I've always hated him from day one !!! It's bad enuff that we didn't get to hear Total Science's mixing skills ... he wouldn't STFU at all. They guy went on a ramapage and started to MC over every other headliner sets.
CADDY CAD is TO worest and most hated MC, but he booked for every party
BTW .... was L NATURAL MCing in the other room ? I didn't get to see him
THAT COAT CHECK LINE was never ending !!! Thank GOD I didn't have to coat check.
