STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Staff at a laundry washing hospital linen found a human foot, a Swedish newspaper said on Friday.
The foot, with painted toenails, was found on December 10 at a commercial laundry in Eskilstuna, west of Stockholm, which washed linen from several hospitals, Eskilstuna-Kuriren said on its Web site.

A local police officer told the newspaper police were waiting for a medical report on the foot and how it had been separated from the leg before deciding whether to open a criminal investigation.

Definitely something from the morgue/autopsy suites, or if it's a teaching hospital, from cadavers. I doubt it would be from an amputation. How could it be discarded as such? /shrug

Maybe they didn't want it anymore. Afterall, proper foot hygeine is a pain in the arse to keep up with.
