cleaning vinyls
i was wonderin. whats the best way to clean a vinyl? cleaning dust that is
what do you use?
Technique I use is when queuing the record before you drop the needle, just hold a cloth or something similar (has to be clean obviously) and let lightly touch the vinyl as it spins. Gets all the crap off. Make sure you use an antistatic cloth though otherwise you're going to be playing a remix of crackling and pops! Using antistatic cloths also means no static on the vinyl which means no dust attraction.
Atm though I just use the t-shirt I'm wearing and hold the bottom of it over the vinyl :P.
I use Gruv Glide - removes dust and static from vinyl which is really helpful since static attracts dust.
I also tried discwasher d4 system before gruv glide but does not work as well.
rubbing alchy
can you use rubbing alcohol as a substitute for the cleaning solution they give you in most vinyl cleaning kits? or will that ruin the vinyl?
