Smiley DJ Song to start a mixcd set with!

Hi everyone,
I am putting together a new mix cd and I am stuck on a really nice track to put at the beginning of my mix. Generally I like to start of my mixcd's with a sort of ambient buildup into a tune, something morning-trancish with no beat for the first 30 seconds or so, then gradually building into a tune with a nice mellow beat. Maybe something like "Lustral - Broken" or "Main Element - Take Me Down (Lemon8 Mix)"...

I would then normally ease this into track 2 which would be something like "Thrillseekers - Dreaming of You (orig)" or "Veit - Sky", or "Hydra - Affinity".. or for an older example, "Alibi - Eternity (Thrillseekers mix)". As you can see I like The Thrillseekers!!!

Anyway, if anyone can suggest some really sexy start-tracks to begin a cd set with, that would be very very useful!

All help much appreciated!!

My favorite intro track to the 6 sets that I've completed is chicane - autumn tactics (thrillseekers mix). Since you like thrillseekers so much, you probably already have this track

I know that it starts off with a bass beat, but the begining is a great on for a set.

Accadia - Blind Vision (Yahel Remix) <-- I like using this one, try it out sometime.

DJ Hooligan - Hear You Now (Grand Chillas Mix)

altho it may be a tad too recognizable/overplayed as it's the intro to Tiesto's ISOS3....damn kickass track tho.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions
Yep, as you guessed it, I already have Chicane - Autumn Tactics (Thrillseekers Mix)... very nice tunage!!!

Those other two suggestions are great, gonna check them out later when I can get onto the hub. Blind Visions is a pretty cool track, don't think I've heard the Yahel mix tho, so will check it out... Thankyou!

Anyone else??

well, here's a tune i'm sure will fit almost any genre of a set:

DJ Danjo And Rob Styles - Aragon (Intro Mix)

Try it, you might like this one!

CygnusX-orange theme

If you're playing a real trancy set I would start with something slower and progress into something faster, something like Cygnusx- orange theme, or cygnusx- superstrings. They're both slower at the start but they have an energetic sound to them n they are both extremely trancy.

i think a nice intro would be
Solar stone - Solar Coaster (original mix)

now come on can you argue that ?

I tend to choose a track that has a mega catchy bassline and mix out of it after about a minute or so. Gets the listener groovin early and interested to hear more.

Greed - Strange World (Lemon 8 Remix)

mmmm..... i love this song... nice intro track too =)
u mentioned something about a "sexy-start track" and the vocals make it very....well... sexy

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Can't wait to get back to my PC in my hometown and download some of these songs to have a listen. Then it'll be a case of finding them on vinyl - has Greed-Strange World been released yet? Agreed thou, very nice song :-)

I have Solarcoaster on vinyl already, yep great into, just haven't played it that much because I haven't found any records in my collection that I can mix out of it sweetly... so it has been sitting there folornly getting hardly any plays! Does anyone know a really sweet tune to mix from Solarcoaster into?

Keep those suggestions coming, I'm writing them all down!!

Cheers!

Create your own style. It is up to you to have good track selection, its one huge factor that makes a good DJ. To ask for suggestions, shows signs your not confident.

One thing I Love about DJ'ing is locating, scrounging, and fighting for the Stellar tunes most people don't know, never heard, can't get...ect.... Not just buying Vinyl from the Superpower DJ's Tracklists.

Comeon, let's be honest here :P

PROJECT MEDUSA vs EXOR: Moonshine (Part 2)

CHEERS

Atlas- Compass Error (TvsR Mix) sounds like a good track to start off with.

I started my last mix with Junkie Xl - Breezer [DJ Tiesto remix], it worked good 4 me.

I'm starting my next mix with Hernan Catteno - Deeper layers

There's some good advice,,, but I have to agree with the katana intro mix and the exor pt.2 mix- both quality tracks.

Also... the Greed track is on the Satoshi GU vinyl release ;-)

I found an old "Cheech & Chong" Record in the basement archieves, it even comes with a MASSIVE Rolling paper. I think i'll start off a set with that.

Nothing like starting a set with that (the record first, the paper is already gone)Imagine, Chongs "Hey Mon pass a little of that over here"

ahahahahahahahahahahhaahhahahahahah

Katana is a good choice I agree, but an overplayed choice. I had the White Label until a buddy hounded and hounded the shit outta me for it. I didn't prefer the House Style ending percussion and that dumb ass raid siren!!!, it miss informs your emotions of the feeling those fukg AWESOME keyboard riffs make you trip out on.

No Complaints, thats Katana and an awesome, no STELLAR tune!!!

Just wait till the FLOOD of garbage remixes your gonna see from that tune. Hope Silver Premium copyrights to prevent that, and not take the Release Form Royalties from just anyone to clown that song.

The Horrorist - One Night in NYC [Chris Liebing Remix] is an awesome tune to build up your mixset from...At least if your making a hardtrance set...

tiesto - magikal journey

Ambient tunes I've used:

Sean Cusick - CB Radio (ambient mix)
Bedrock - Emerald (reprise)
Bipath - Paranoize (FX)
Decepticons - The Beast (ambient mix)

I've also used tracks that have long breakdowns - gets tricky at times, but as with anything, if done correctly, results are brilliant

hehe judging by your sig you would probably throw somehting in like Das licht - take off

hehe

i would probably go with ayla - angelfalls (elemental force mix)

one of my favorite tunes.. starts off slow and mellow.. then out of no where.. u get pure energy

builds very nicely.. guaranteed to give anyone a kickstart
