t.nu's biggest story of 2002

taken from trance.nu

Tisto tops DJMag 100!

Last year he scored the 6th spot in the annual, and more or less official, Top 100 list of the worlds most popular DJs - held by UKs premier magazine, DJmag. This year the flying Dutchman became the very first non-UK DJ to claim pole position in what could be considered the most eminent award for DJs. For years hes been a A-list DJ in Holland, Germany and Norway and 2001 saw him make his way into USA, Canada and Australia, once again proving that trance is far from dead. There was only one throne left to claim, and its not easy to win the hearts of the clubbers in the competitive UK scene. With his breathtaking sets, amazing remixes and original productions DJ Tisto in 2002 - after 17 years of DJing - entered UK-shores with an army in his record bag and surfaced victorious in the battle of the DJs.

Tisto likes to see himself as an ambassador of trance, one that never gives up on the music he lives for. His In My Memory release hit the UK early 2002 and has since then seen 3 singles succeed in the UKs Top 40 charts. Earlier Tisto has made statements that he wants to tone his career down a bit - one can understand why since Tisto has a handful of work related to the scene. In the fall of 2002 Tisto introduced us to the Magik Muzik label which he A&Rs himself. Apart from that Tisto visits his studio quite often doing remixes or working on his second solo album due 2003. If not found there hes probably somewhere across the globe, DJing in front of thousands.

Hes more or less done it all. Won awards, seen the top of the charts, remixed and been remixed by the biggest producers (including himself), succeeded with his own label (twice), DJed at the biggest events across the globe, met all the important people and everything else that others only dream about. Whats next for the worlds best DJ? Will the world of DJ Tisto ever stop spinning - and if it does, will it be the end of trance as we know it?

Comments?

I can feel the love all the way over here in the States.

It doesn't bug me, they usually seem to be a year behind. Keep in mind, Tiesto was 5th in 2001 and 1st in 2002. AVB was 5th in 2002 so I think 1st is a good bet.

coz there a load of guff. For example, they change dates on articles to make it look like they had the news before they really did. And they sit at home and wank over there mp3 collections, etc.

Like it's any better with that here

And just in case:yes I am a member @ t.nu.That is because it is a great site to meet other scandinavians for events, record reviews, competitions etc. They also threw a wicked party @ the Summer Parade in Oslo this summer. The forum is crappy, tho,I'll admit that, but I don't use it except for parties and other important events. So don't know that much about what the ppl there act like.

you know, that's funny...cuz we don't.

if you're referring to updated news items, then the date is updated on the date that we, that's right, UPDATE it. ...and it's automatic, we don't have the power to change dates, so there you go.

Shame / Disagreement

I dont se why so many people seem to hate t.nu either. I havent seen one valid explanation so far. Its a site that has alotof members, they also supported alot of news to poeple who didnt know about trance before (i found trance.nu before tranceaddict a couple of years back). The forums might not be the best but they have good CD rewievs and rescent news (no i dont care about _when_ they heard about the news as long as they are rescent, why would i?)

My question, why hate a site that brings trance to so many more people then just the people on this site?

Posted by tommie on Jan-10-2003 09:27:

Those "we hate trance.nu"-comments are ludicrous. Seems like some people are actively looking for reasons to hate us. Anyhow, i can assure you that we've never changed a date in a news item.

Proof?

Well, the contributors can only update the date, the can't change it. Oh, they can do it in the diary section though, but i guess that's not what you meant.

Code taken from func_mod_news.php

PHP:

And regarding the "we hate trance.nu-avatars". Please continue with them, it gives us shit loads of promotion.

And finally, that snippet regarding tiesto is taken from our "remembering 2002"-article. 50 of the most important event during 2002;

http://trance.nu/v3/news_show.php?id=1336

Enjoy.

that's a lie, I've seen it happen a lot, articles are written for example 16.15 GMT, when it's like 9.32 GMT

whats up with that?

pointless and stupid bickering about another trance site.
if u don't like trance.nu, then don't go there, simple as that
don't try to start wars between different sites on these forums, thanx.

that goes for anti t.nu sigs too, change them or the mods will be quite happy to change them for u.

thats like saying no sigs allowed containing "Save the rainforest" or "Anti-war" sigs, etc. Restricting basic rights. Any message in a signature could quite easily offend anyone, so where do u draw the line. If a www.kiddieporno.com site was setup, and i had my signature "Anti kiddie porn.. blah blah, etc." would u complain?
