shipping from Juno

Ok, I order my records from Chemical Records because their shipping is so damn cheap. Look at this comparison.

Juno
BBE Free KOS 2045 12" 5.54
ANGEL BEATS Brightness FOG 043 12" 5.54

Sub Total 11.08
Shipping 5.60
GRAND TOTAL 16.68

Chem
Angel Beats :: Brightness :: Fog Area Records :: 5.73
FOG043
Angelic Touchdown :: Marinero [Nu Nrg Rmx] :: Extra Wild :: 5.73
XTRV003
BBE [S.H.O.K.K] Free KOS2045 5.73
Kosmo Records

Sub Total 17.19
Shipping 3.09
GRAND TOTAL 20.28

I have wondered this for a long time. Why the heck is shipping from Juno so damn expensive?? It makes absolutely no sense to me. The shipping for 3 records from chem was less than an order of 2 records from Juno. Does anyone else think this is completely absurd?

Caleb

Never noticed that but if it's true then it's strange, they are both based in the UK and could have been using the same cheap shipping method.

dunno why they are so expensive, but they are the best, I order records on sunday and they get here tuesday morning (I live in the US)

i ordered 7 vinyls a month ago .. and i still havent received them
i know that because i'm in brasil, the records take longer to arrive, but 1 month is much more than i expected ..
and they dont replay to my e-mails and the messages i sent by the customer services enquiry form

About when did you order them? I had a similar problem. On the 28th of November '02 I placed an order with juno (6 vinyls), we'll call this order #1. I placed another order for 3 vinyls on the 1st of December '02, order #2. On the 12th of December '02 I placed order #3 (9 vinyls).

16th of Dec '02 - order #2 arrives (15 days).

22nd of Dec '02 - order #3 arrives (10 days).

still order #1 hasn't arrived... I waited until like the 28th of Dec and finally rang them, asking wtf was going on. The guy explained politely that at the begining of December (the order was shipped on the 1st of Dec) Juno had hired another shipping company because of the christmas rush (they had lots of orders) and apparrantly there had been shitloads of reports from customers saying that their orders hadn't been delivered (all shipped at the begining of Dec). I was told to wait until the 1st of January before ringing back, since that would make it one calender month from the shipping date, and their policy is if the package hasn't landed in one calender month, they'll resend. I rang them back after it had been one calender month and the guy advised me to wait a few more days because the delayed packages has started arriving at their destinations... I regained my hope that it would arrive, because this was a better outcome than getting my order resent, half of which would now be out of stock! Anyway Saturday the 11th of Dec came and I decided I would ring them back and tell them to resend the order as soon as they opened on Monday... then a knock at the door... and it finally arrived.

So anyway, there's a chance if your order was shipped at the begining of Dec '02 that it went with this dodgy shipping company and is suffering major delays... you can ring them and request they resend the package if it has been over a month since it was sent, or wait and it'll probably get there.

If there shipping wasn't so expensive I would order from them for sure because they have so many more tracks I like than Chem does. Maybe if they lessen their prices, I mean 2 pounds per vinyl shipped?!?! Wtf.

Posted by P`zazz on Jan-13-2003 05:21:

actually it's not 2 pounds per record, the more records your order contains, the less will be the shipping cost per record

No because most of the time juno has there tunes first. I rather spend the cash for newer tunes so cash is not the thing.

Hey you live in Canada Mike, how long does it usually take to arrive, how many buisiness days ?

This is from Chem Records btw, dont care about juno because i usally don't have a lot of dough.

Postage rates (in UK pounds)
10"/12"/LP: 3.60 for first record, then 2.00 per record.

Cash is an issue for me

Depends if customs get the package or not. If they do open it etc it will be about a month, if they don't it usually arrives in about 7 or less days. Once it came in 3 days!!!

Posted by Phu on Jan-13-2003 08:07:

If cash is the issue then then don't order records.

the longest it took me to receive some records was last year during christmas time, but thats also cause i did not ask them to ship through fed ex...
Now, i only do the fed ex option, as the records will get to me within 2-3 business days.
The only complain i have is that sometimes you get records that are a bit warped.... not their fault, but always a risk of having these shipped overseas. I mean, if i can get the same records locally, id rather get them local, just not to depend on fedex fucking up on stacking shit on top of records during shipment

Posted by mute79 on Jan-13-2003 15:12:

unless you select the fedex option, the records take a reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long time to get to you... anywhere from a month to month and a half... i order at least once a month from them so i'd know... the fedex option is well worth it...

cheers

Cash is an issue simply because I would rather have 3 records instead of spending the same amount of money and getting 2.

Juno is good and bad imo.

Great stock, simple website (doesn't have bulky crap) and decent shipping speeds.

My last order

Order Time: 04:05am (GMT +08) 12-31-02

Order Email Confirmation: 20:19pm (GMT +08) 12-31-02

Order Arrival: 10:30am (GMT +08) 01-06-03

Only took 1 week during the christmas season.

Downside though is their costs...

Net Total 60.15
Shipping/Packaging 31.60
Insurance 3.00
Courier 0.00
Grand Total 94.75 UK Pounds

31 pounds for shipping sux

No worries dude, good luck with that. I reckon you'll get them eventually.

That's not true, all orders I have placed have taken 10-15 days since I clicked the "confirm order" button on their site. Except for that fuckup that I spoke of (up the page a bit) which took 6 weeks of course.

Fuckin agreed. Chemical have very reasonable shipping costs, juno is fuckin great apart from 2 pounds per record!

Posted by Alccode on Jan-14-2003 05:03:

I heartily recommend Chemical.

When I order from them, 10 records costs about 11 pounds for shipping.. that's almost a pound per vinyl.

I live in Toronto, it takes about a week for the records to get here, without exception. Usually there are no customs charges, but if you buy lots of records at one time, you might get charged for your huge bundle.

Once it took a few weeks for me to get the vinyls, but that was because my local post office had failed to inform me that the records had arrived. In fact I only found out when I got a "last warning" message from my post office. Apparently they had gotten it a long time before, about a week after I had ordered them.

So Chemical rocks.

finally they answered my e-mail...
and a new package is coming up

Posted by Rememberence_ on Jan-14-2003 05:36:

ahhh nice one! I hope you ordered different vinyls, and that both the orders arrive haha

Posted by TwiloThunder on Jan-14-2003 09:48:

Anyone got a direct contact to juno via email?

I couldn't find anything on their site apart from customer enquiry if you have an order currently in progress.

Just want to ask them why the hell it's so expensive.

Posted by Tsunami One on Jan-14-2003 15:39:

yeh if juno's shipping was better it would be unbeatable. i ordered 3 vinyls twice and shipping cost me about $25 aus each time . I mean if chemical can do it for 1 pound a vinyl , why cant juno? is it because they have a contract with a shipping company?

Posted by bachatu on Jan-15-2003 05:23:

i think the problem is with ordering so little records at a time... like 1-3... I did that in the beginning, but it becomes like not worth it to order onine and wait, so i would shop locally... but then again, locals usually have shit of a selection.
So when i order, i usually order at least 8 records, and it usually averages to about 12-13 US dollars per record after shipping and fedex option.
Now to me, that is not bad at all considering that im getting a more rare selection (at least in the States).
All said and done, i cant complain with Juno, they have always come through, and even their customer service has been good.
If you want to know about expensive, try www.abovethesky.com.. they are pretty expensive in my opinion, and they are also from UK. However, they have an excellent hard trance selection.

I guess u get the good with the bad.

Posted by Akito22 on Jan-16-2003 19:24:

Invisible Grin Juno is decent

I actually like Juno a lot. They have a great selection and good customer service. Though everyone is definitely right about the shipping charges. I had the same problem with my December batch of records, but they were very helpful and credited my account with the money I ordered with.

I think it is the contract that Juno has with the shipping company that raises their shipping rates. Perhaps if they tried to get a business rate they might be able to lower it close to Chemical.

Then again... maybe they want more money. LOL!

Posted by Tsunami One on Jan-20-2003 05:18:

if they had 50% cheaper shipping i reckon their custormers would increase 10 fold
