Does anyone get these annoying AD pop-ups?

I know a few people who get these. It is a gray messagebox that pops up at random times. And the title on the window is "Messenger Service"

My brother gets the same pop-ups. And I found out today that they pop up at the exact same times on our seperate computers(with the same pop-up).

Can't find out where they come from. I've uninstalled a couple things with no change.

Since my brother and a couple friends of mine get the same thing, i'm assuming its some kinda adware from a program we all have. And since it says messenger service I assume its AIM (only messenger service my brother uses). But it could be any program really.

I am just curious if theres a way to stop this crap. It exits me out of programs and games taking up the whole screen.

If anyone knows something, please post. It'll be a big help to me and many others. DOWN WITH ADS!

EDIT: Oh yeah, the ads dont have any pictures. Just text. Mostly casino and random ads and stuff, with some porn thrown in there.

Yeah, that crap is annoying. I'm using Windows XP and I've gotten those before as well. I've used this site and it'll tell you everything you need to know so u can disable those messages.

go try mozilla 1.21 or opera7. they have options to disable javascript popups

theyre not javascript actually, its a network message executed via the messenger system running over the netbios protocol, usually affecting systems running windows NT or XP

I think they are an AD from your ISP.... as in SBC Global, or an AT&T service.... the only way the computer would actually display the message is if the message came from a trusted source..... such as the network your connected to.

excellent.... those are annoying as hell. www.cyberxyz.com is the place "they" told you to go to remove that shit. it's obviously some scam.... great idea, but annoying as hell. i should've thought of it.

thanks
