Starting to understand and like Progressive!!
This should be the last thread i post but since starting to dj now, I'm getting more and more into progressive. Its a great sound to mix in with techno and even in some of my uplifting sets. As far as live sounds go i really like progressive, and the amount of originality in songs is quite high. I'm not totally changed over but Im starting to understand why so many like it. I still think John Digweed is boring but I've even gone so as to far purchase some Bedrock recs, like "Lovely Day". So i in short apologize to all prog heads for bashing what i did not know, especially bedrock and amit, and wonder how did u get into prog?
Right on man. People don't realize prog and trance are not just related, but they are brother and sister. Sasha and digweed cross over from prog to trance in many, many sets.
Get the 2 CD of digweed and sasha Live at INdependence in Simmons. Great stuff.
Oh and Digweed Live @ Immense Velocity
that's called evolution of your music taste, everyone goes through it, but basically when one gets into trance he will most probably end up liking prog
that happened to me aswell, 2-3 months ago If you told me I would like prog as much as do now I would probs think you are

i hav started, but iam not gettibng propaly into it, i wana stay with me trance!!
iam starting on the hybrid stuff now!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the club, it's great to have another member
I had been a Sasha fan for a little while thanks to GU013 but that really had more of a trancy sound to it. For me it really started in August when I saw Sander Kleinenberg live. He blew me away. I was a fan of his Essential Mix (not the album) up to then because of it's 'weird' and different sound. That began the 'evolution' if you will of my tastes towards the progressive sound.
I've also been digging progressive lately. There are lots of good tracks here. http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...&threadid=83593

haha good for you. most of the people who say prog sucks dont know a thing about it, and only heard like 3 tracks.
the more you listen to it the more you begin to understand it.
Tis true. Fate has it that after listening to trance for a certain amount of time you'll start to drift into the direction of progressive. Early early 2002 I thought James Holden was crap and Solstice was such a boring tune, but later that year I got into it and now of course Holden rules
prog and trance
A good set IMO always starts with prog because it sets the mood and takes you on a journey, then a banging uplifting trancer at the end linked with other trance and prog tunes makes for a good set.
Look at Danny Tenaglia's Global Underground comp as well as Nick Warren and you see they throw tracks like Yves Deruyter - Feel Free and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar into their prog house sets.

Like I said before. Progressive takes a bit more time to understand and like. It's really great music but I still prefer uplifting trance.
you thought solstice was boring? solstice isnt prog
I started out listening to prog. Sasha GU13 was the cd that turned me on to electronic music. so i pretty much followed his musical style cept now im developing my own style, involving more tech-house/breaks.
www.progressive-sounds.com lots of good stuff there
GU013 is one of those cds where a person who likes trance will listen to it and because it has progressive elements in it, they become interested in prog and go from there.

I have to thank Tiesto for getting me into prog. Tracks like Nothing, Chris Lake - Santiago De Cuba, Sapphire Cut - Free Your Mind got me into prog then I checked out a thread with everyone's top Prog tracks of the year and have hooked ever since. It offers me a change from the high riffs and massive build's of uplifting.

i got into this genre like 1.5 years ago after realizing that uplifting trance started to sound the same with 2 build ups and a breakdown. and since then i never got bored of it. there is so many other sub genres that branch off progressive that it makes uplifting trance look pretty primitive. i still like uplifting but its so hard these days to find a unique sounding one ex leama - requiem for a dream.
I dunno i tried to listen to tenaglia but i cant get into it. I mean the best sets are a blend of uplifting, techno, and prog as a dj i hope to bring that as a unique sound to the electronic dj world. As a matter of fact does neone have ne sets with a similar sound? So far GU013 has been thrown out there, ne others?
hehe...progressive music is the best form of music. its a blend of house and trance combined
i am glad that your liking prog. but i hate when people diss calling it snooze.
you should download chris fortier-bedrock 3.
yoshitoshi 2 "In House We Trust" mixed by Mv and Behrouz
Sets that I am Feeling
Deep Dish live @ Space 12-22-02 Parts 1 + 2
Sander Kleinenberg Essentail mix 12-1-02
btw...top 25 prog dj charts. there charts are gonna be completly different..they might have 1 or 2 tracks that are the same. soo much diversity. i love it
progressive is my lifestyle
