Production : 10/10

Nicely done lads, not my sort of tune, i personally prefer redawn (or nudawn) but still this is top notch, another quality piece from the elude team.

Smiling Frog

pretty class luke....i think it could do with a bit more variation in it cos it seems to just do the same thing over and over but its cool..i like it a lot. It does remind me of the intro to Ian Van Dahl 'Castles In The Sky' tho...

Posted by Icone on Jan-14-2003 22:54:

Hey thx for the remix chris & luke!
Don't bother about the waiting times... production takes time

I really like it, it's powerful and also atmospheric although not too many sound fx were used (so far what I can hear hehe). Though I think at some points there's too much distortion... especially when the main leads and the second come in. Perhaps export the track at a lower volume and re-record it and master it again? It'd be great if you could

Another one to add to the collection, thx alot guys
Cheers,
Wim

Hehe, I see. I don't really see that at 5:20 though... perhaps I should learn something about gating then
Isn't the accent just a bit more on the later notes at that time, which refers to gating?

cheers
Wim

Cool

cheers wim, master volume was set at about 2 bars below the end line on the monitor display in fruity, i didn't master it tho, dunno how lol.

my interpretation of gating is this...

sample:
Kick:X---X---X---X---
Hats:--O---O---O---O-
Note:----

the rank 1 remix of ligaya when the main melody comes in is a prime example of gated chords.

beware, i might, and probably will be wrong lol.

Posted by Icone on Jan-15-2003 00:52:

yeah, i know it can display the values to be 'alright', so the volume doesn't seem to burst... but when i export as wav and then run in t-racks, it always gets in the red, which means above 0db... so i have to run it through some compression (tube and multiband) and eqs.

it sometimes takes some energy from my tracks though
thx for the quick note on the gating thing, looks sweet

cheers,
Wim

thanxx m8

downing right now at 60 kb/s

curious about this one... that other Elude track is huge!

Posted by on Jan-15-2003 19:31:

Nice tune although I didn't really liked what you did with the volume...
I think it will sound alot better if you'll lower ALL the lead's volume so the beat will be heared as well, and some strings will be played in "the backround"...
I think it will be much more energetic...

Really liked it all exept that volume issue...

i must hear... RAARRRR

Posted by McBigMac on Jan-15-2003 19:54:

I dunno everything sounds very simple and a lot identical to the original, also very muddy. Watch out for those leads, way to high.

Perhaps due to the volume problem.

Not really impressed, boring and unoriginal
Seems like a rushed remix too.

Keep trying tho!

Cheers,

Posted by whiskers on Jan-15-2003 21:10:

another sweet tune, although some people might complain about the piano-like synths being a bit on the cheesy side...

Disgusting comments!

The production on this piece is class, definately one of the best I've heared from amature production. Its certainly not rushed either, I know Luke and Chris have been working very hard on this for quite some time.

The synth leads are explosive and grab you, they don't just fade into the background and are forgotten. I could see this going dowwn a treat on the main dancefloor of Gatecrasher, along with their mix of 'Cloudwalking' which is nothing short of brilliant.

I think you may need to compare this to a lot of recent 'trance' releases, as the production of most of them indeed lacks the quality of this piece.
