what's the fastest way to get big??

What's the fastest/best way to get big, muscle-wise that is?? I know everyone as their own workout routine. What do all of you do to get big...like how many reps and sets do all of you do, and do you do light weights or heavy weight, do you start heavy and end low or start low and end heavy??

i work out every nite. sometimes ill skip a day but only if i'm too drunk or something. people say its not good to strength exercise everyday though because your muscles need time to relax. what i do is 50 diamond pushups (make your hands into the shape of a diamond). i think the difference between lifting light weights and heavy weights its strength. lift heavier weights if you want to be stronger. i have 20,30, and 50 lb. dumbells. i do 2 sets of 20 reps with the 20lb on each arm. then 5 sets of 5 with the 50lb. then the next nite i'll do 2 sets of 20 reps with the 30lb and 5 sets of 5 on the 50 lb. more pushups then situps. works good for me.

also go to the gym. nothing better than that and thats where i'll work more on my chest and legs. hope that helps

Yep I would have to agree with "STEROIDS" but remember dont work out EVERYDAY, because your muscles are getting bigger when they are resting. Just work out 3 times a week for 6 months. Eat balanced nutritions. If you don't want to wait 6 months, then go for the stuff!

dont do steriods, my cousin did them and he has like mental problems now (like he is in a psychiatric hospital and shit), just work out

Don't rush: work out under supervision of someone who has a degree or a certificate.

Ps.: Muscles are no certificate

how can some of u even recomend steroids!!!!

there really is no 'fast' way.... u'll just have to work out regularly.... or if u just want to look all muscular and stuff, u can get muscle implants..

but usually, ppl go from light weights - to heavy weights... grudually.... i've been out of the gym for over 2 months...and if u don't regulary excersise the muscles u have, they'll begin to deminish...

There is only one way to get in shape. Haven't you guys seen Southpark? The answer is, of course, Weight Gain 4000!

Incorrect. You may get stronger now, but low rep, high resistance workouts will basically force muscles to get larger, faster. When this happens, your musles get big, but you dont allow time for new blood vessels to grow in between them. So what you have is more muscle that needs more blood, but is getting the same amount of blood as before; thus, it tires much quicker. If you REALLY want to get strong, and not just big, you need to do high rep/low resistance to build up tone. Something like taking a martial arts class, or working with lighter weights, or rock climbing is what you want. You wont likely see huge, muscle bound body builders hauling their carcass up the side of a rock wall or doing kung fu and blinding speeds.

Anyways, I highly reccomend you do high rep/low resistance. It will make you look ripped like Bruce Lee. Low rep/high resistance will give you (over time) more of the Ahnold look or something. That doesnt really appeal to me.

Dancing Dude

very very newbish and stupid question which i gona get flamed, but ere goes

don't steriods make ya muscles look bigger, and actually get bigger, but u stay the same strength, if ya get me, they just get bigger, but on't actually make ya stronger, which natural muscle building does

(zips up flame & embarrasement suit)

About 7-10 years.

Just remember nutrition is the key.

In my view (been working out since I was 15, 19 years old now), there are really only 2 ways to get "big"; either the easy way (roids) or the hardway.
If you want to be big short term-wise, steroids is the only way. Now, I don't support this, since I tend to be "clean" and avoid temptation, but they do everything in short-term.They increase your muscle definition, mass, and overall strength very quickly along with several side effects.I think it's not cheap, either.
If you want "the hardway", well, this is more or less what I do (each one has a different way to train)
I train 4 exercises for each muscle, and I visit the gym six times/week, so it's chest, legs, back, shoulders, bicep, tricep, and the first exercise is always 4 sets (15/12/12/10 reps) and the others are 3 sets with 12/10/8 reps. I try to vary the exercises to strike the muscles from various angles and to avoid having a monotonous training session. You should not take any supplements during your first year or so (IMO) to know your limitations and realize the real benefits of taking protein shakes, creatine etc. Also try to do that in phases, like 2 months I'm using supplements, 1 month nothing, then 2 months creatine, than 2 months nothing, etc.
Oh and resting/sleeping is real important in this, as well as eating.
Less reps are better for mass-gaining btw, it's just that I'm in a muscle-toning phase.
One key thing here is pacience and persistance. Back to the "resting" issue, I'm now trying a new "3 muscles-a-week" exercise where I have a 1 week gap between training the same muscle, and is working cool as well.. it's all about experiment.
cheers!

Nah, you get stronger too. I think you've just been victimized by propaganda. It's not your fault.

Everything Benoitfan said is correct. You just have to try seomthing and see what happens. When you reach a plateu and cannot grow anymore you switch routine. There's so many secrets on bodybuilding. I've had succes with just about every way, light weight, heavy, you just have to make sure you full intensity everyday. You have to be dedicated. I also have to disagree with everybody's claim of getting big only with sterois. I was stuck this summer and with a help of a friend changed my routine and gained 15 lbs. Everybody thought I was using steroids, but fact is I was just so motivated and give everhything I had everyday. Plus about 9 hours sleep and eating 8 times a day . The good thinga bout lifting weights is that the further you progress, the less you lift, beacaus your intensity goes so high. I started doing 5 sets, now im down to 4 or 3. I know this sounds crazy but I'm going to start a routine with only one rep! 6 reps, 6 exercies crazy aint it! I'm kind of scared to try it, cause it's way too intense

anyone who uses drugs to workout/get bigger is a sissy dicklicking no brain momma's boy

you fucking drug posing jokers make me sick, fucking fagets

Posted by fr0st on Jan-17-2003 08:58:

Im surprized noone mentioned HGH(human growth horomone), I dont know much bout any of the work out drugs but i think HGH is geting more popular....IMO the best way to get big is get a trainer and have a nutritionist make a meal plan for you, sure it may cost a lot but they get you healthy and normaly what they teach you, you make a habbit of doing it and it becomes part of your life. Oh and on a side note who the fuck cars to be big and bound up id rather be solid, cut and flexible.

There are a number of ways to enhance muscular growth, many have been mentioned here. It really takes a combination of a good resistance training plan, diet, and dedication. You can get bigger without the use of steroids, but as someone said earlier, you have a genetic limitation to all things. Steroids takes you past that limitation, but the side effects are the consequence. I highly advise you not to investigate into steroids. Although there are means of using steroids that minimize future side effects, the tendency is almost always otherwise.

There are a number of supplements out there that you should be wary of as well, which many are nothing less than derivatives of steroids, steroid precursers (which are a little safer, but not by much), and HGH and it's precursers (has side effects as well). There are a number of supplements that are derivatives of Gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), which create a terrible addiction without the user knowing what they are truly addicted to (I know some of you can relate, lol). I'm sure there are a few supplements that may not be as harmful (creatine is the only one I can think of right now), but I haven't done my homework for some time since I've been out of the Personal Training loop for awhile. Do some investigation yourself to see the effects if you are truly interested in supplementation. Otherwise, stear clear of them.

I think the best advice would be to pay money for a trainer. You should also investigate the trainer's credentials, including certifications, education, experience, awards, etc. A good trainer who knows his/her stuff will be the most efficient tool to meet your goals. They can cut through all the bogus crap and get you to your goals much quicker than skimming through Muscle Mag., or talking to your local club bouncer about training workouts. The workouts they give you should include both resistance training as well as a little bit of cardio. The resistance training should, of course, be the focus, and a long-term training schedule should be created that would cover a certain period of time (say 3 months, 6 months, etc.). Within that schedule, smaller periods should be created as well to meet short-term goals (like 2 weeks, 1 month, etc.).

The training regimen should include a variety of exercises covering all the major and minor muscle groups. It should include a variety of exercises that covers the same muscle group as well. Additionally, it should vary both the number of repetitions, sets, and amt. of resistance (in a nutshell). And despite what some people have said earlier, you MUST NOT work the same muscle groups in consecutive days! This causes a great strain on not just your muscles, but on your joints, tendons, ligaments, and bones as well. Resistance training actually damages the muscles, creating microtears along the muscular fibers. This is actually a good thing, because the "healing" of these muscular fibers is what promotes muscle fiber growth in numbers, resulting in more muscle mass. However, if you workout these same muscle groups while they are "healing" (like the next day), this does not allow these muscles fibers to grow, and causes strain on the tired muscles. And that eventually causes strain on areas which you do not want, like the tendons, ligaments, bones, etc. Consequently, injuries from overuse result (tendonitis, stress fractures, etc.). I've seen it, and personally experienced it, so don't do it! The injuries may not happen immediately, but they will eventually, trust me!

Anyways, the end goal will ultimately lead you to a low repetition, high resistance group of workouts that will maximize muscular strength, and thus enhancing muscle mass in the process. Once this long-term period is over (and hopefully your goals are reached), a week or two should be given for lighter workouts. Then, the entire period is repeated. A trainer can explain this in more detail, but that should give you a quick idea what's in store.

Sorry for rambling. I f$cking hate my desk job! I miss those days of being active and getting paid for it..... Anyways, HTH.

Bottom Line PROTEIN,PROTEIN,PROTEIN. Ive been training for about eight years now and ive tried it all. Steroids and over the counter shit. In those years of experimenting Ive learned soo much there is to know about working out. First of all you get better results if you train in the morning on a empty stomach. You wanna take some aminos to get your mmetabolizm going(Glutamine, Taurine, L-carnatine). I cant stress the protein thing enough. At least 300 grams a day if your serious. But only 50 grams a serving. A lot of water, a good supplement or two and you cant forget cardio. Thats very important. Even if you do use steroids you gotta do all these things. Eat lots of chicken and tuna, have your shakes, and dont eat too late. Do all these things and you could get strong, hard, and big. If you want to get into names of suppliments or steroids and what each one does that could be a forum of its own. Good Luck
