You guys seem to hate everyone!!!

I've been reading your threads lately and all you guys do is bash eveyone that is famous or becoming famous. What's up with that, no one seems to like Tiesto, Van Dyk... Is it cause they go on these massive tours to promote their work? Are they not underground enough for you to respect them? Did they not deliver to the masses that were dying to here them? I do admit lately trance music is not what it used to be, but come on why bash the people who have given it their all for many years. You seem to think they started djing/producing last year and are famous this year. All i'm saying is give them a break people, just because they are famous and have there names on t-shirts doesn't mean that they have gotten greedy and don't care about us no more.

just my opinion, i am loving tiestos new style more than his old..his remix of breezer, tears from the moon, die another day, not to mentiom his remix of venus! i never like the silence remix tiesto style whatsoever. he is turning more techy, there is about 1% magik in his remix of tears from the moon, the rest is pure tech trance. take a listen, all the sounds are based on industrial fx.

I like paul van dyk, dj tiesto and all of them DJs...

I think where music is concerned, experimentation always leads to something great in the long run. Right now at this moment there isn't a dj in the world who can't say that they are not excited about the new direction electronic musis is headed.

Posted by DJ_Skaya on Jan-18-2003 08:54:

Everyone is afraid of the scene turning to cheese. I don't really know why this is; there have always been pop songs that have the trance sound, and there aren't any more now then there were in 98. Also, a lot of the big dj's are remixing pop songs. This really goes against some of the "unwritten rules" that trance fans have created for the genre.

Someone direct this gentlemen to the Oprah forum

People here bash because of diff reasons. Respect that. Also there is nothing wrong with not goin with the flow some people like other artist. Some people dont like mainstream. BTW I love PvD, Tijs, more so than before i might add, but to be fair i do see ure point, and then we must realize some peeps are just haters.

LoL - well said, my friend.

Yeah, Simply put, there are a lot of assholes in the TA forums. I think one of the all time high points in TA history was when someone started a thread about mourning the loss of Tiesto's mother. Pretty much the first two or three posts were "This is a tragic event, I wish the best for Tijs and family". But, after that, all the posts were something along the lines of "Sorry for Tiesto, I guess he'll be ok once he starts rolling around in his piles of money again."

It's pretty sickening sometimes, just try to ignore it when it happens. The sad truth is, even tho electronic music is supposed to be all about respect, a lot of the fans these days don't have any respect at all. Sure, they like the music, but when it comes to respecting other peoples oppinions, they don't have a clue.

First of all...if ALL of you have NEVER posted anything that wasn't serious, was in jest, or was an attempt to be funny, I'll be suprised. And then I'll think you're lying. Because, hey! It's a forum, and since when did we all have to be serious in forums? Many people use this as an outlet for things, and I don't see the problem in that. True, there are times when humour isn't appropriate and some people cross the line, but more often than not they don't. So maybe they don't like a DJ and they'll bash them. It might not be the right way to go about things but thats the way they do it. And as long as it's not alicious (which it usually isn't), who cares? Why do you feel the need to defend these DJs? I'm sure that if they really felt the need, they could easily defend themselves. Especially since a good number of them browse these forums!! You're not their mom and there's a good chance that you're not their girlfriend/boyfriend, so let them be big boys and girls and do what THEY feel they need to do. I'm sure that at this point in their careers they really don't give a damn if someone on this forum bashed them, since odds are they've got a fan out there to replace them! If you can't deal with it, DON'T READ ANY THREADS IN THE FORUMS! And it's not as if you can make any of them leave, since most of them have been around a whole lot longer than everyone that's posted in here so far has been, me included. See? Problem solved!!

And another thing...there's many reasons why people don't like certain DJs. Personally, I'm starting to get turned off to PvD just because alot of his productions sound the same, and it seems like he feels the need to re-work, edit, or remix every other song that comes out. However, I think his sets are usually very, very good. There's other DJs I don't like, and I have my reasons for it. Have a problem with that? See if I care. I'm sure there's DJs you all don't like, whether you bash them or not.

Give me a break, does this all really matter? Uhmmm...no. It's an online forum and it is how it is...take it or leave it. It's not likely to change.

And if you want to flame me for this, go right ahead! Be hypocrites. I dare you

Have a peachy day!!

I think that could've been me....... or Ste

The point is that tiesto especially seems to be milking his 'number 1' slot, it was not his best year, and he knows it

The thing is tho, this is just our opinions, and like that tiesto thing was proven to be false, and possibly a publicity stunt from him, and the tunes he's remixing now like Madonna show me he's going for more $$$ than making a tune for the people, who are the ones who made him what he is, if no1 bought his early stuff or supported him he'd be a nobody.

I think also everyone is entitled to opinions BUT there are a lot of ones, mainly from prog heads who think they're above us cos we dont listen to what they do, and I take offence when they slag our styles off but couldn't name 10 good songs in such a genre, and that's when I'll argue a case, cos no1, regardless of tastes, is better than ne1 else here

You're right, I probably shouldn't take this so seriously. I come on here to talk music, and I guess a lot of other people come here to talk shit cuz they have a lot to say and don't have the balls to say it in real life. Anyways, I'll try to ignore all the stupid comments from now on and just reply to the posts I think are somewhat meaningful.

Yeah, but thats true of any DJ, if no one bought or supported PvD or Armin he wouldn't be anyone either. I don't really think it's his best year either, but personally I'm happy that someone outside the UK won the award for once.

Yeah, I'm not starting another one of those progressive vs. trance threads, but I'm a big fan of progressive, and I think anybody who goes up to a trance fan and says "trance is shit, progressive rules" is a loser. It's just taste and difference of oppinion, not if ones "better" than the other. You think after arguing about it 50 million times people would learn that

Anyways, that's all I have to say.

lol... no-one likes PvD?

give me a break, PvD is the biggest bandwagon since the birth of captain birdseye.

now thats just damn distasteful
only inbreds in australia reside in tasmania and the politically correct term is Aboriginals (note the capital letter)

here in australia it is a pastime to cut down tall poppy's but i reckon tiesto is as melbournians would say "da barrah"

One of the major problems is, people think an opinion is only valid if it's a positive one, and that negative opinions are either bandwagon jumping or lack of knowledge.

We're all different, live with it. A lot of people don't like the way some of the big-name DJ's are heading with their music and they've every right to express that opinion.

As for the two you mentioned,

PvD: Has always been an average producer, don't like a lot of what he plays, technically very good on the decks.

Tiesto: Went downhill after his Radio 1 EM, loved his set at Gatecrasher NEC in Novemeber and hopefully he'll get back on form and stop acting like a pop star. I blame the downward sprial of the Dutch Trance industry and America (they love a celebrity ).

My opinions ladies and gentlemen, deal with em as you please

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-18-2003 16:30:

so true after his em, he has gone downhill. I've seen it live but there are always other deejay who will step up or play well.

Posted by Tsunami One on Jan-18-2003 17:20:

the bigger they are the harder they fall.

i think alot of it has to do with how famous the dj becomes. because if you take for instance pvd or tiesto they are know for playing for an angel & urban train which the croweds want to hear when they come to town which makes that 1 extra new track that the dj cant play. They are victims of their own fame that brings them money but halts their progression because there always stuck with playing those tracks.

+ playing 120 gigs a year dosent leave a dj with much time to listen to new records .

also on a side note trance has always suffered from the golden year "99" bug.I dont think you hear house or other genres asking for the glory years to come back and that the producers go back to ye old times. maybe it's exhausted and needs new blood. i see very few trance producers pushing new boundries but if they do they get the "fuck off wheres the breakdown and uplifting synths". the remakes of classic tracks is a disgrace and just adds fuel to the fire that trance while good music has failed to produce anything groundbreaking for awhile.

Posted by morninglory on Jan-18-2003 17:42:

I respect of the points made. But sometimes (in my mind) there are bullshit statements like Tiesto can't mix, PVD can't beat match. I mean come on people is that really true. So many people respect them and for someone to say that they can't mix is just rediculous. Isn't there ability to mix well that got them this fame? So why make bullshit statements? I realize it's an opinion, but after stating an opinion like that you should also atleast try to back up that opinion with a descent fact.

Posted by Blue. on Jan-18-2003 17:50:

It's opinion. When you give 14,918 members of TA a keyboard this is what you get.

Posted by Tsunami One on Jan-18-2003 17:53:

Iyeh but when dj's become "rock stars" they need someone to tell them that they should get their nose out of the coke bowl

Posted by Arsalan on Jan-18-2003 22:06:

i LOVE all of em espically tiesto.

oh and i hate it so much when they bash Oakenfold, come one ppl.

He changed his genre because of his love for the music, he is experincing new things.

Well, if you had taken the time to listen to any of DJ Tisto's recent broadcasts, you would realize that his technical mixing ability is quite poor. I can name many, many DJs who are better than him (technically) at what they do. What gets the big name DJs where they are is connections. Knowing the right people, getting that 'in' at a club, getting noticed. The best man doesn't necessarily always get the job.

Just say the truth, you don't like him cause of his fame. It's not just connections you narrow minded person. I'm not even gonna waste my time anymore, with a shit head like you. If I want to hear from an asshole i'll fart.
