yep, it's me

sorry for the "third person", it's just easier than rewriting other material. Also i can't stand promoting myself, so i sometimes talk in 3rd person.

great to see the encouragement and positivity of trance addict peeps, rather than an immediate critical attitude

;-)

hope you Canberra peeps are doing OK with the fires

a friend of a friend went for a swim, and returned to find her house gone and now has nothing except a bikini

Do you know where you're gonna be playing yet Helix?

Posted by helix on Jan-21-2003 01:22:

not yet, have some friends looking for me.

Any suggestions for places to play, to visit or to avoid?

:-)

How come there are about a million nights to goto in the next 3 months in Melbourne.. and then there's nothing for the rest of the year.???

The issue is really where you can get a gig. I'm sure it's the same in New Zealand and the rest of Australia, but most of the bigger joints have permanent residencies, so even if they were the type of club to book someone who plays as many musical styles as yourself (most clubs down here seem to play to a specific sound) it may be hard to squeeze in.

Then again, it's not like I'm experienced in the big world of club residencies or booking international DJs, so I could well be wrong on all this. Regardless, good luck with it and be sure to let us know what happens.

thanks Renegade and others

I've never been to Oz before, so any info is appreciated. Although I play a wide range of styles, I'm happy to stick to one style for a particular gig. (Very few promoters or crowds are open to a wide range in a single night, and I usually take at least 4 hours to play a good journey, which not many events can offer)

Regardless of what happens, I'm really looking forward to it. Melbourne is supposed to be a lot like Wellington, except bigger and better. There's a small chance I'll make it across to Sydney too... working on getting a gig there.

No doubt I'll be playing small places, and that's fine. I'd rather play to 100 up-for-it people than to 1000 clubbers who don't have a clue.

I'll post my live trance set from Wonderland (just 2 weeks ago) as soon as I get it (a friend has it on minidisk)

oh, if you're interested

has a trance mix - it's pretty proggy at the start, but gets deep and uplifting towards the end. I also play much more anthemic and hard...

An altitude gig perhaps? You'd have to come to sydney for that though.

Posted by helix on Jan-22-2003 02:32:

how would i get in touch with Altitude?

I rang a friend in Melbourne (progressive house DJ) today and he says trance is dead there. There is hard trance (and hard house) and progressive, but nothing in the middle.

I find that hard to believe. What do you guys think?

Posted by webmeister on Jan-22-2003 12:02:

If you wanna contact Altitude, visit their website www.altitude-club.com
or send a PM to morro, he is one of the guys involved with it
