Is Toronto the new Trance Capital of the world?

Yes, you heard me right - do you think that Toronto is the new Trance capital of the world?

I mean sure we don't get have parties like they do in UK, but every single big DJ has already been to Toronto numerous times and more and more are coming every month, now that Itikia is handling promotion for Viva!

Damn, I'm so happy to be living close to Toronto! Damn, I can even skip a great party knowing that within a month there will be another great party !

...hmmm, the world is SOOO Big...Trance Capital of North America? Yeah I think it is...of the world? No, I think Amsterdamn would be, they have almost all the killer festivals like TE2002, Sensation, Innercity..the list goes on. Plus Holland is the birthplace of many Top DJ's.
But in North America, it would be between Toronto, Montreal and New York. Aria has been booking some quality DJs lately, New York has always been a big spot for DJs in NA, and Toronto (Thanks to Viva and Guv/Kool Haus/System) has seen a lot of action as well.
All three of these locations are within *reasonable* driving distance from each other so..yeah..Toronto ROXXXXXXXXXXXX

Me senses tell me this could get ugly.

Toronto Trance capital of the world? Meh don't push it buddy. But with so much talent coming through these days it doesn't really matter where you are. And obviously we get more than our share of em.

But I still think its easy to say Europe still holds the upper hand.

Now Toronto: The trance capital of North America??

This could be interesting.

i hope this was a joke....

Posted by itikia on Jan-21-2003 22:44:

Hahaha, well I will do my best to bring all the trance DJs that everyone wants to see.

itikia

FLASH: A very much liked trance DJ has just been 99.9765443% confirmed today (for Mar 7th)! Hhhmmm, that reminds me of someone, just can't but my finger on it.

Hmm Gonna have to agree with ya. Bu tI do beleive for a fat we are the Trance Capital of Canada. The only way we could actually LEGALLY say that TO is the trance capital of the world would be of rall of us to have spent at least 10 months in various other cities, IE washington (glow), NY, LA, IBIZA, Hamburg, Berlin, and many other destinations around the world. We just would never know for a fact unless someone can get at least 4 big name clubs from the larger cities in the world and do the math. Durafei wanna volounteer?

As for Itika, DAMN YOU AND YOUR TEASING!!!! GET AVB!!

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF you TO guys are sick

look at your lineup and compare it to aria

IT SUCKS BIG TIME

so plz

montreal IS the capital of electronic music in america

Posted by Durafei on Jan-22-2003 00:12:

OK. I don't wanna start flaming in this thread.

Some facts:

1st - It's true - Aria gets a lot of famous DJs that do not play in TO. But most of them are Techno DJs. All others play in TO as well. This thread is called Trance Capital of the world, not Techno capital of the world.

2nd - Toronto has two clubs that attract Trance DJs - Viva and Guvernment. Montreal only has one - Aria. Sona, Stereo, Red Lite - don't really get Trance DJs anymore. Before Sona is resurrected, this one is a no-contest.

I agree that parties in MTL are better, but TO does offer more in terms of Trance parties.

LOL.. you guys gotta stop taking this so seriously. Learn to ingest with a grain of salt.

Yes Aria is a living LEGEND theres no denying that. But remember that 90% of the DJ's that perform at Aria are in Toronto at some point aswell.

Sometimes we get someone you don't and sometimes you get something we don't. Can't we just accept the fact that both cities are happening?

I don't follow the news too closely but did Quebec separate or something?

If so I guess that means Toronto wins Trance capital in Canada since Montreal is now in America!

Posted by malek on Jan-22-2003 00:20:

hehe excuse his bad french translation... he meant america as in Americas (North America, Central America, South America ) America is used alot in the french language

Posted by Trancewave on Jan-22-2003 00:36:

Trance capital of the world? c'mon seriously now. Sometimes we Torontonians are so full of ourselves.

*EDIT* to keep this short and sweet. I've travelled to many parts of the states and I'm very happy about our party scene here in Toronto. I never knew how homesick I got. Yeah Toronto is a happening city and I'm glad Montreal and Ny is not too far of a drive away. We are soooo lucky!!!!

I knew that it was because of the language barrier. I was being more sarcastic than anything. Next time I'll put 2 emoticons.

But thanks for the clarification.

OMG OMG OMG .. you are too funny! Great post!

I live on earth but sometimes Trance takes me to other realms and worlds.

BTW i'm not trying to offend you nor was a trying to b4!

Posted by E*Master on Jan-22-2003 01:34:

Like I said, b4 anybody cal themselves teh greatest Trance city or whatever teh fuck (like it matters when it comes right down to it), do the math, do your Homework and back it up. Check the venues of 2002 of clubs in Canada (TO and Montreal) as well as those south of the border. State your facts if your are gonna say that Montreal is the "capital".

*Note* fact means do the research of ALL THE AMERICAS . Have fun researching J@y.

I ain't saying that TO is the capital either because I can't prove it nor would I spend the time to research it. Actualyl ythe research for TO has already ben done. Check out Desidel's 2002 master list Make your own master list and state the facts.

PS Listen to Time2Burn and don't take it so seriously. We are just trying to have some clean fun here

Posted by LKD on Jan-22-2003 01:47:

Durafei..u know what, i TOTALLY AGREE WITH U

man toronto is the trance capital of the world indeed....

omg montreal is jack shit compared to us in terms of trance...omg how they think they rule in clubs and stuff when we know that people from holland, etc. recognize toronto and when montreal is mentioned they go "wha?"

yes...real life experiences

i think the MTL people are way too insecure about hte fact that they dont have much to talk about and therefore talk about all their clubs being the greatest instead

Posted by E*Master on Jan-22-2003 02:03:

^^^^^Yeap It's Flam-O-RamaRound 1

*Running away to get some popcorn and watch the action.*

LKD really wants to start a TO Vs. Montreal war.
