Is Montreal the new Trance Capital of the world?

Yes, you heard me right - do you think that Montreal is the new Trance capital of the world?

I mean sure we don't get have parties like they do in UK, but every single big DJ has already been to Montreal numerous times and more and more are coming every month!

Damn, I'm so happy to be living close to Montreal! Damn, I can even skip a great party knowing that within a month there will be another great party !

it has 80 % of the ingredients, to become one

the other 20 % is :

- A huge dj, from canada (that would be a resident here)

- legalization ( look at amsterdam...we have to become the city of the free. that will equals more tourists, more clubs, more djs, more reputation and the circle goes on)

my prediction :
2007

I recently posted that i think Montreal is quickly becoming a world leader in this area. Amsterdam and Ibiza to me are the capitals right now, but Montreal is definitely the capital of Western society.

a friend of me (Jpx)

heard picotto in an tv interview

he said he would be resident in one club in europe and one club in canada (maybe its in america also)

so the guy who interview him is from TO so he asked him is it in TO

and he said no

the only club who could have mauro as resident in canada are the guv and the aria so it narrow it to aria

is it only rumours of facts

plz biggy give us more info

YO!!!!!!

AMSTERDAM is one of them for sure!

keep it up!! yo

hmmmm.... trance capital of the world???! i'd rather say of n-america! it's not like it's in our face 24/7 everywhere we go like in the uk, ibiza or the continent of western europe! but at least it's gettin there in mtl, slowly, slowly ... aria rulez!!! (and if wasn't for aria i wouldn't be here in mtl nor back in canada...yeeees i know, i am addicted to trance! )

Posted by mastercongo on Jan-22-2003 04:58:

kandi i don't agree with you. uk and ibiza are probably the biggest in electronic music. but not trance. trance i still thing the biggest is the neatherlands. i mean armin, tiesto, gielen etc all still play there ever month i think.

i would put montreal in second place. first place only if they start getting the trance dj's more often, let's sya armin every 2 months just to start etc.

and yeah we need a trance dj representing canada, max graham and mistress are big but they are not trance so :S
we have to wait for alex and charlie to get big

It's just normal, Trance music is from Europe.
House music is from US, and if you want to compare house dj's from US and Europe, you will fall of your chair.

Erick Morillo
Roger Sanchez
Mark Farina
Derrick Carter
Louie Vega
Danny Tenaglia
Deep Dish
Satoshi Tomiie
Bad Boy Bill
Frankie Knuckles
Todd Terry

And the list goes on!

Montreal is definitely not the capital of Trance. The thought of it surpassing Amsterdam or other major euro cities that have a thriving scene is kind of funny. I don't even think we get more Trance DJs than NYC. On that note however, we are definitely lucky to have a great scene (trance and otherwise) thanks to Aria, 514 & Sona (more before than now for the international scene) and Stereo.

I hope that you guys noticed that this thread was a joke. I decided to start it up because our friend, Dureafei, in Toronto started one and I copied the exact wording changing all the Toronto's for Montreals. No way montreal or toronto are trance capitals, we are sure stops for trance djs and a great place to party, but capital? I don't think so. Our radios still play eminem and that stupid banana song, and putting the word "trance" or "techno" in a sentence attracts a weird attention as if we come from another planet :/

Posted by Skipper on Jan-22-2003 16:54:

LOL

Malek, I'm pleased you are joking.

Montreal is one of the most European cities in North America though, and I think that is a big factor in DJs' decision to play there. It is, without a doubt, the techno mecca of North America....and that's why I LOVE IT!

Posted by Czaoth on Jan-22-2003 17:49:

lol thank god Malek, i was starting to think that you were a bit naive! hahaha

yo what's up with this banana song ? u mean the ketchup one ?

Posted by discojoe on Jan-22-2003 22:56:

ya and neither are anywhere near the capitals, not even of north america. Look at the lineups for NYC or miami. And thats not even mentioning Holland or Ibiza
