Kick ass game. Bullet time was a nice new addition. Nice selection of weapons and had a nice story as well. Good graphics and had me hooked for a good long time

Good game, it had some very innovative ideas. It's kinda old now though. I just bought "The Getaway" for PS2 and it kinda has gameplay like Max Payne.

It's a fairly good game, much different than the typical games that we're all used to. The game has no menus, radar or arrows telling you where to go (instead, when doing a car chase or trying to get to a certain destination the turn signals on the cars tell you where to go). The guns don't even have cross-hairs so you can see where you're shooting. The game is supposed to give you the feeling that you are living out the life of this guy. Takes awhile to get used to, but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. The licensed cars w/ model damage add to the realism.

It was a great game. Many new concepts.the level of detail was also amazing. The sequal is in the works and will hopefully be just as good.

Max payne hooked me from the start, but it became boring after completing about 2/3 of the game

Luckily the ending and the whole story were great.I don't think gamers will ever look at pc games the way again after max payne.

Max Payne is a bloody great game! My favourite bit was without doubt the running-through-a-flaming-restaurant bit. I can't play it anymore though because Windows XP doesn't like it.

Same . I was trying for so long to get it to work and it works on some peoples XP but not mine even though I've formatted my computer like 3 times and all 3 times it hasn't worked. Right when the level loads the game just exits.

Max Payne ok to start with, after bullet time novelty wore off got boring and repetative,

not too keen on 3rd person

Smiley DJ

Max Payne was great when it first came out, if im not mistaken it was the first game to use bullet-time. You notice how a lot of games are now using it. A great game but it does get repetitive, like almost all games do, after you played it a few times.

love the game, but one thing bothers me. at the start of the game, it shows the last scene with max holding a sniper rifle, but im pretty sure the only way u can finish the game is with the grenade launcher. so why does he have the rifle at the start?????

Awesome game, but no replay value.

I Looove Max payne. Every couple of motnhs or soe I tend to reinstal the game. I even Ripped part of the cutscenes as MP3s. The story is great and keeps u hooked. I also found the comic book type of atmospheare great. Max payne 2 will be out for the PC sometime in first quarter of 2004 (according to rockstar but am not sure about what quarter ).

BTW. My fave character is Vladimir : "Clear as Vodka"

Kickass! the dream level when you run around on a bloodtrail and tis weird music and baby screams ringing in your ears... thats freaky!

Posted by Tranc3 on Mar-06-2003 10:29:

I've played this game completely through at least three times, going on what I think is my fourth right now with a really cool mod where he gets kung-fu moves -
Click

And that opening theme is excellent as well
