Question Bass drums in reason 2???

Hey all.

I have been using reason 2 for a while now.. and have made a few songs: see the promotion forum for those..

anyway... is it just me.. or are the built in bass drums for reason 2 a little thin and weak?

I cant seem to get a really powerful sound from them... maybe its just that all my synths are up too loud?? But I dont think so..

are there any places I can download some good bass drum samples? Or are there any tricks for reason, apart from playing with velocity, or running an EQ through it?

Cheers

hey!

check out http://www.propellerheads.se/. they have a free of charge account given to all their (Propellerheads) members, and the account is on http://www.primesounds.com. they have imo very good loops and one-shoters . membership on Propellerheads.se is free as well, so you can get about 2000 free bassdrums on the ps.com account! or perhaps a few hats or synth sounds. but hurry up! i don't know when the time period ends.

otherwise there's alot of diff. places to get bassdrum sounds etc., and mostly for free. i can't remember anything in particular atm , but search on google.com for example.

and you can play with a compressor and the tone knob on the redrum machine to get the perfect kick. my recommandations for this type of technique, kick sounds, is the xtc kicks in the end of the list (unless you have a refill pack in the same bank )

good luck! and keep on producing!

In the reason mixers there's a little built in eq for each track, with one knob that says "bass" and another that says "treble". Press the eq button to turn it on and then turn up the "bass" knob. that will help give your bass drums more boom.

Also make sure you use compression.
