Exclamation Two Tribes Melbourne Interstater Party Flat

Grrrr, did swamper's server run out of space? Cause all the posts that were made last night have been deleted?

Anyway, the idea I proposed was something along the lines of this:

Since all of us interstaters won't have anywhere to stay for TT Melbourne, how about we all hire out an enormous flat?

My plan would be for us to arrive on Saturday. We might even be able to convince some of the Melbourne TA's to borrow some turntables and speakers, so that we can have a warmup party before heading out to TT's on Sunday night. We'd all leave Monday morning.

Depending on the number of people, it might even work out to be quite economical. Perhaps $70 a night? I really have no idea. I guess prices will be expensive though cause of the grand prix weekend.

Anyway, if you're interested, chuck your name down here.

Cheers, thanx for that. I have no idea about venue. It was just an idea I came up with when chatting to webmeister last night.

Yah, I guess so. But if we stay through till Monday afternoon, it will cost us another day's rent. Or at least they'll charge a substantial late check-out fee.

Main reason I suggested Monday morning is that there's a bus back to Adelaide at 8:30am, which I know I'll be catching (and sleeping on all day).

i can tell u 2tribes will probably finish a good hour late.

Guys i'll be looking 4 accommodation for friends i have coming from the country so i'll post some prices and locations (I had the Hilton in mind, it's about a 5 minute walk from Melbourne park)

I'll post the sizes of the rooms (number of beds etc.) the costs for them over that weekend (for 1,2 and 3 nights over the sat,sun and mon). the location of the hotel and ppl to contact at the hotel so u can book a room. Or if u guys want we can make a big booking together we can mabie get a discount.

I'll have all this hopefully by mid next week.

I was also only going to book the room for only one day, and that was the monday night... but my only problem is that they might not let you check in that early (Two Tribes finises at 7am monday morn) and u can either wait in the lobby or something or take the room for the sunday and monday nights.

But that's for me only, anyone else with any ideas/requests please post them in this post and hope they don't get deleted.

I should have the rest of the info here by mid next week.

Cheers

Sounds like a good idea to me....

I'll sticky if more people show interest

Posted by stamper on Jan-29-2003 14:02:

Sorry for not replying earlier, but yeah i would be interested. Just for the Saturday night anyway.
Nothing too expensive tho!!!

Posted by Hyperdimension on Jan-30-2003 22:40:

I'm interested, especially if you're going to have MUSIC!
And the music is TRANCE!

I don't care too much about how expensive it will be either... the music and company will make it totally worth it!

Posted by DJ Dowlz on Jan-31-2003 02:48:

So we have interest from the following people:

DJ Dowlz (Adel)
mr_stamper (Adel)
GelatinPuff (Adel)
webmeister (Syd)
Hyperdimension (Syd)

and maybe 3 or 4 of mr_stamper and I's mates from Adelaide?

This is looking like a real possibility. Any Melbournites willing to lend us TTs and speakers? I can bring CDJ100s if people want.

BTW, the party thing is an invite to all the Melb TAs too.

Posted by stamper on Feb-01-2003 09:15:

So any updates on possible accomodation??
3 of my friends are coming for sure no. Seriously tho, a TA party would be cool, think about it....!!

Posted by Tranceilvania on Feb-01-2003 13:14:

is that party after or before the TT???
Cuz i dunno about the other states but here in Melb we always have a Recovery party after a rave early in the morning in some Night Club etc. how bout that?

Posted by Hyperdimension on Feb-01-2003 13:34:

Which night(s) would you book?

If I do go to Melbourne I'll be getting there on Friday evening, and leaving Melbourne on Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

Posted by Wasted_Space on Feb-01-2003 13:37:

It has been my experience that recovery's generally suck. Of course this is a generalisation, but i've never been to one that was any good, quite frankly.

Now, recoveries at pplz places etc. they're quite good, depending on the mood.

For TT though, i'd reckon a pre TT party, is the go... dunno.

I'd be planning to have the party before we headed out to TTs, or perhaps even on the Saturday night beforehand.

Has anybody researched accomodation? One place that caught my eye was Eastern Townhouse which had interconnecting rooms (6 people max) for $210 per night. It's fairly close to the tennis centre.

Any other ideas on location? Melbourne people?

Sounds like a good place, i havn't been able for find somewhere that cheap, that close to melb park, not with six beds. I'll be ready to go take a look at this place if u guys were really interested. Other than that i'm still looking at places around melb park, there are a heap of hotels, but they're like the Hitlor and Hyatt and cost $$$$$. But i'm still looking.

Posted by christos on Feb-04-2003 14:11:

I originally posted this in the official Melbourne meetup thread:

Dowlz, regarding the accomodation idea. I'm a bit late with the info. work and all, but I have bad news (expected this though). All places I rang were serviced apartments that ranged from $120 per night (the more mates, the cheaper the accomodation becomes per person) but unfortunately all was booked out because that is the grand prix weekend in Melbourne and it's frantic this time of year. I hope that doesn't spoil your plans of coming. If you are still coming i'll be catching up with you at TT2003 anywayz.

Posted by InSoMnIa^ on Feb-09-2003 13:58:

Sounds like a pretty decent idea guys, hope it all works out for you all.
