Question Cubase + Reason

Got a "demo" of Cubase SX for now, Any tips on how to get started on using this? Two days into I still dont understand a damn thing on it. Reason seems like a picture book next to Cubase. How do I record patterns using Absynth, where do I go to draw in patterns like you can easily do on Reason. Ive got the rewire down + allocating channels between Cubase and Reason and I can hear my track being played through Cubase, but how do I further add on top of my track with Cubase? Do I need to do it under Audio or Midi tracks? Basically I want utilize my VSTi's to give me another dimension in sounds, but I dont know how to write in anything with em.
I have aim and MSN if thats easier to help on.

Cubase SX + Reason=the ultimate combo

coby has it right - RTFM

There's a Quick Start guide that will have you up and working at a basic level pretty quick. Read it and use Cubase alongside it, you'll get the hang of it.

And (of course) if you've got any specific Cubase questions, post back.

Ok I fiddled around on the program and managed to find what I was looking for...it was the piano roll.

Arrow

On Subtractor and Malstrom synths from REason there is a "Legato" button to make the sounds legato....where is it on any of these FM7, Absynth, PRO 53, Pentagon. Cant seem to find it, or maybe its called something else on these other synths.

Ok lets narrow it down to FM7, how can i get a Subtractor or Malstrom type Legato out of FM7 ? Essential for strings basslines and pads. Anyone know how?

Maybe you could just edit the length of the MIDI events in Cubase?

In fact, select a MIDI part in Cubase and go to the MIDI menu. There's a "Legato" function that will do the business for you

Question

I tried that, For some reason the automation was not working. Not even for the volume, I was rewired to Reason. Is there some button or function I have to to turn on for it to read Automation?
