Hello! Dónde estan los Mexican TAs :D

Hah...man my Spanish knowledge has sunken too deep

Anyway, I'm going abroad (again!) for my internship. I hope to be able to leave Holland around October or December. I'll be going abroad for 10 month and will be working in a hotel in a position of managerial level.

I've decided I'd like to go to Mexico.
SO my Q is whether there are any peeps from Mexico on the forum and if they can give me some info on culture, countryside, club-life, and internet access

Gracias mis amigos!!!

That's not really true. All the big djs go to Mexico, at least to the DF. PvD even did a soundtrack for a Mexican movie and will be soon touring all over Mexico to promote it. And yeah, we've all heard rumors of Sasha doing a Global Underground in Mexico City soon.

But from what I've heard from friends are that the best parties there are like psy/goa raves in exotic locations. Should be cool too

Nice to see you here, Golden Locks

There are some Mexican TA's (Willian2014, for example), but they seem to be a bit shy Anyway, that's pretty much what they said: as a rule, psy-trance is the most popular genre in rave parties in Latin America, but you may find some other styles in nightclubs (d'n'b is very popular here where I leave - I'm not sure about what's popular in Mexico though).

Or else, you could come to Brazil: our language is closer to Dutch (because of the invasions), we have worldwide famous dj's (Renato Cohen, DJ Marky, DJ Patife, and some goa-trancers that I don't really listen to) and you get to meet cool people like Maaz

Off-topic question:

I guess we're the country in Latin America with more TA's? There are 5 of us: does any other country have more TA's?

I can't be arsed to remember the exact words we borrowed from Dutch (if you have the "Aurelio" or "Houaiss" dictionary, and take a brief look, you'll find something), but the whole accent in Northeast Brazil + Rio + Brasilia was highly influenced by the Dutch (and the French) invasions. That's why I speak words like "porta" and "cor" using my throat (and not rolling the tongue, as you probably do, being from Sao Paulo)... among other things.

I'm kinda sleepy right now (I didn't sleep at all in my way back to Brasilia), I'm gonna take a nap and then I'll look for more info on it, if you want

And there are more TA-Br's, psychonoise

trance isn't that huge in mexico but it isn't that small... big name people do visit DF and then the party towns every so often. Whenever I go to mexico tho it's not at the party towns, it's in a regular city near where my mom was born, so I really haven't experienced anything in mexico yet, but I have heard of things oging on down there

Hi... i live in mexico city... (why i must write in english?, would be more easy for me to tell you about mexico in spanish, but i will try it )

ok... yes, there are a scene, not the international bignamed dj's, but the scene exists, psycho is the most popular genre... and the most of the parties (the raves) are psycho but, not are the only parties... many bignamed dj's come to mexico city... timo maas, paul van dyk, sander k, nick warren, etc

and how they said... many "nightclubs" offers a lot of genres too... progressive, drumm & bass, trance, cheesy :

internet access??? there are many companies... with dial up or DSL...

I've got more facts! (havent had my interview yet btw, will be this afternoon)

My school has 3 internship offers in Playacar, near Playa del Carmen (Yucatán): Allergo Playacar, Royal Hideaway & grand Flamenco Xcaret.

I'll be going for 8 months (Oct - May or so) and work 6 days a week.

Yucatán seems interetsing!

ps. you can reply in Spanish if you prefer

I lived in Mexico for 01 year as an exchange student. I lived in Puebla. And I can tell, the "trancier" tune I heard there was Aquagen - Why Are You So Quiet... HUHUHU... But hey, Acapulco has fucking awesome discos man, you should try them like, in the Summer or Spring break. Cancun as well... I can't tell you much about it cause I wans't a big fan of Trance while living there...

Posted by William2014 on Apr-13-2003 13:36:

In my opinion Mexico is America's best country to live in if Trance is what we are looking for .
Mexico City , Cancun and Acapulco are the best best choices .
Mexico City ( read D.F. ) has a HUGE Trance community especially addicted to minimal and clasic psy.
So , do be Welcome , u won't regret it

Regards

William

P.S. Maaz ........not shy but too busy playing live (gtr though , for Alejandra Guzman ........a rock'n'roll Diva here)
Saludos

all i can say is Mexico is cheap. a lot of good shit over there for a couple of pesos. Just spending left in right. if you look foreing they will tend to charge you more.

Well I'm gonna book my ticket next week!

Flying through Atlanta to Cancún, staying overnight @ a hostel or so and booking a bus-ticket to Guatemala the day after. There I'll go do a refreshment Spanish course for 2 weeks (Casa Rosario) and then take a bus back to Playa del Carmen or so!

I hope I'll get enough leisure time to explore Yucatán and possibly the rest of Mexico & Central America.

My flight is September 10, my internship starts Oct 1. The hotel is to be seen at www.royalhideaway.com (damn it's expensive :s)

Looking forward to it!!!

xoxo Josta

Heh, what's your plan for central america? I live relatively close to Guatemala, in Chiapas, which is just right in the frontier with them.

About the trance scene down here, well, it sucks, at least here in Chiapas does. Again, the main genre is goa/psycho, though there are a few that listen to techno and house, specially the clubs; most people consider trance boring, although people still can't notice any difference, they simply call it electronica ... but well. Your best bet is on Cancun, that's definately the place to be, you'll go insane (in a good way) once you get there.

If by any chance you plan to stay or visit any place in Chiapas, send an message or something. I can't offer you a place to stay, but I might give you some pointers or stuff, it would be fun to have someone to talk about trance in here, heh.
