System F - Together

So i got this cd last night (thanks) and im looking for other peoples opinions on it if they have heard it. Personally im so far from impressed its amazing. To be honest i have never really liked System F stuff before, but this is just a new low for trance when one of the top 4 producers (im including tiesto, armin amd paul van dyk in the other 3) has made and released this.

The only track on the entire cd that deviates from the nice build build build breakdown pattern is System F - Savannah, however this isnt really a trance song. Possibly my favourite from the cd though. Two songs I liked were System F - Deja Vu and System F - Ignition Sequence Start. I would buy these two on 12". Hopefully they are released as singles.

Other tracks sound too alike in my opinion. Some tracks are ruined with horrible vocals. Ligaya being a prime example. Spaceman another one. I think trance is slowly spiralling down into hole that it will take a long time to get out of. But thats just my opinion.

Maybe its because the album was designed for the commercial audience?

Maybe their can be one or two good singles and remixes that come from it?

Maybe trance is getting stale?

Hello!

Together ain't that bad of a track.. although Ligaya whippz its butt..

The cd is a lil commercial as well... Japan.. like hello mainstream?
or i could be mistaken.. lol

It must be remembered that the CD was produced specifically for the Japanese market, and they love their trance cheesy. Ferry hasn't produced anything like the album material for release in Europe recently (look at Needlejuice, Pocket Damage, Indigo, Punk). Different audiences require different approaches.

If it was released in the rest of the world, then I'd be disappointed. Ever wonder why we heard very little about the sort of tracks that would be on it, or why Ferry didn't make a big deal like Armin is about the forthcoming release of his album? It's because he probably doesn't care whether we hear it or not. It wasn't designed for Western tastes -- he knows, and we know it.

lets just hope it stays in Japan

im sorry but thats no excuse
ferry corsten should be about what he produces regardless of the market, maybe this cd is what hes about and if thats the case i wish him all the best but if your saying its cool for him to release a slapstick wad of cheese because its to suit the japanese market... well personally i think thats bullshit... that doesnt make it ok, that makes it worse in my opinion. The term selling out derives from someone specifically altering there tastes to suit an marketable "audience" hence selling out to them..... isnt the whole point of producing to offer your own unique take on music...

Who cares if it's all the same, it all sounds fantastic. This album indeed proves that Ferry is king of the synth. Anyway i like it.

I read a ferry interview recently where he explained that one of the reasons he releases under different names is the commercial one where you can't really send material to different labels with the same name, cause they get rather pissed off at it. The other reason is that he can release this sorta thing under aliases and other stuff that is less like it unnder his other aliases. It makes sense that you get a consistent sound from System F, which for most people not in the know is just some guy, and you'd expect to get a consistent - but different - sound from moonman, veracocha, gouryella, moonman, albion, pulp victim, discodroids....

I'm not gonna comment about the album though, cause I don't think I'm capable of making an unbiased report Although, I will point out that I quite liked the change of style on the song Savannah. A very "Moby" style of production.

Posted by escee on Feb-01-2003 14:59:

now that you mention it, it does sound like moby. I liked it since it was a break from the typical stuff.
