Exclamation DJ Dawn - Important news

Hi everybody!

I have some sad news for those of you that liked my mixes:

there will be no more DJ Dawn mixes in the near future.

I thought a lot about this decision and it didn't come easy because of the awesome feedback I was getting in the 'net.
But I noticed something is missing that is a true necessity for me to make more mixes: the URGE to mix.

I made the last mixes mainly because www.di.fm was expecting them and also because of the many mails I get everyday asking "when's your next mix coming out". But this should not be the only reason for mixing, should it?
Earlier, I made these mixes for myself and gave them to those that were interested. But it's not like that anymore. I don't really like the music that is coming out over the last years, not as I liked the music from 89-94. It's not that I think it's bad, but it doesn't mean the same to me and doesn't touch the same feelings.

So I decided to take a break and wait for things to come....as soon as I can't keep myself from mixing I will start again, but at this point it's not likely to happen.

Sorry

a huge "THANK YOU" you goes out to all the TAs that supported me over the last 2 years here and at DI!

cheers,

DJ Dawn

PS: if you're still missing some of my mixes, visit Apache's ftp at "apaches.serveftp.org/dj dawn" he has lots of my stuff and I will add some more.

*edit* some MOD please remove one of my double threads, I was having server problems when posting

its true,
that there is less quality tunes comming out

i am starting to get bored of them so easly nowdays can't listen to anything too much or rave, mix it too many times always need new tunes everyday/week

doesnt it mean you have to stop completely does it?
can change styles, then go back again later?

there must be something you like...out...

btw: you can delete the double post yourself... (use EDIT)

I agree. I was just to scared to say it on these forums cause I would get flammed majorly. I still have alot of respect for all the artist out here and everything. But I also have lost my touch is mixing. I use to mix a new cd every week for like 4 years and now I do it 1-6 months. I dont know why. I have only told my friends about this. And I am comming out of the closet about this. I dont know what else to say. This is possibly the saddest day of my life. I also respect DJDawn for being honest. Goodluck DjDawn

That sounds quite selfish to me - why should anyone change their style even if he doesn't want to?

Thank you, DJ Dawn

I just wanted to thank you for putting up mixes month after month. I got much of my inspiration from you and your mixes. They truly are some of the best mixes I have ever heard. I understand your reasons for taking a break, sometimes I feel the same way. I just hope you find that you still have a passion for DJing and creating awesome mixes. Thanks again.

Today is a very sad day in the TA/Trance community

Dawn, your mixes were an inspiration for me.
As you probably know I've also started mixing recently, and my style is also the fast German sound.
You inspired me in many ways and, like someone above said, your mixes are timeless, so we can still hear them and cherish them

And, I hope you get back to DJ'ing and not lose your skills in the meantime. We'll be waiting for more from you!

I kinda get what your saying tho. I don't really like any harder trance songs right now. I spin progressive stuff these days.

Posted by dj.Slim on Feb-04-2003 09:48:

your work will be missed =[

You've attracted quite a few fans all around the world, without even meeting them, or playing live in front of them.
But simply by putting up your mixes on the internet.
I think you've accomplished a great thing, and you have my respect!

I also understand where you're coming from, with today's music changing a lot. But as the music changes, so do we...it's inevitable!

Good luck to you in the near future, and make sure to keep following what your heart tells you!

I'm off to track down some of your mixes heheh!

PEACE OUT AND RESPECT TO DJ DAWN!

Hey mate, sad to hear... But I'm afraid you're right about the fact that there are less and less good tunes coming out. I just heard DJ Klubbingman's latest two offerings and I'm disgusted about this... So many unsigned artists can do a zillion times better. Perhaps this would be a nice idea, to mix unsigned artists?
No, you have to do what you decide, nobody has to force you But may I ask if there will be a place for DJ Dawn in the future?

Take care,
Wim/LW

Yes, youre right, Dawn! The music is getting boring these days and I know many DJs who think like you and most of them stopped spinning.

I was shocked to read this news, because I like your mixes, but I think everyone has to respect your decission.

Hope to hear from you in the future!

Unhappy

I am sorry to see you go because you have been one hell of a DJ and a master of track selection. Come back soon . . .

Dj dawn, your mixes are some of the best i have ever heard. Just one question, have you ever thought of producing, or do you produce at all?

no. never tried, and never wanted to...

Posted by Siesta on Feb-22-2003 12:25:

pity

there are STILL enough good dance productions, cant see your point.

bye

Posted by djdawn on Feb-22-2003 14:09:

I'm not really blaming it on the tunes alone. But at this point I'm bored with mixing (after 9 years). I just want to see and wait if at some point I feel the urge to make a new mix again...
