-- Help w/ mp3-->wav---->cd

Posted by tranceman on Oct-05-2000 01:13:

Hello,

Alright, say I have a 90 meg mp3 file that I want to put onto cd. When I transfer it to .wav the file becomes huge...not being able to fit onto the cd. Is there any way to get around this? Please help!

Thanks,
Steve

there are burning programs out there (the new adaptec, and nti cd-maker pro 3) that can burn cds directly from an mp3 file with no conversion needing to be done by you, tho i think the problem is going to be the length of the file and not the size. normal cds can hold 650 megs or 74 minutes, there are cds out there that cna hold 700 megs about 78-80 minutes of music or data. You're probably going to have to re-encode the mp3 in a lower bitrate (96 should be fine, tho it will prolly sound a bit cruddy in places) or split the file up

Use the MP3Cutter software I have here to split the mix up to <74 megs and then if you really want to make it listenable then write up your own .cue file for it (just get a .cue file from a mix I have on here and edit the file -- the time indicators are where it splits between tracks) and then use cdrwin from http://www.ahead.de to burn from mp3 straight to CD. (no need for the .WAV step)

There are cracks floating around for cdrwin 3.7 or whatever version it's up to now.

Ahead is Nero. This is the Best Prog out there by FAR!!!! When you drag the set over to the left to "select" it will Check the file. (Fast Computer makes easy work of this)
Then right click on the file and select properties, Set track limits. Voila you can start recordings and endings anywhere in the set.

Oh I forgot to mention Nero Overburns Really easily(use at own risk). Yamaha users will know!! Again this is the only program I have had really good success with. I Never get Coasters with it. I personally think Adaptec is a shitty program. I have a pile of coasters from it!!!
Good luck

Well, what I do is as follow:

1) I USE NEROBURNER!!!
2) Converts the .mp3 into .wav
3) Choose to burn a new AUDIO cd, and this is good, even if the file is like 900 mb, if you choodes to burn as audio, Neroburner figures out in some way how long the audio
is, and if it is shorter then 74 min, you got yourself a new CD.

Dunno about you, but it workes for me!
