Geilomatics - Geilomatic (S.H.O.K.K. Remix)
Typical S.H.O.K.K. stuff here, maybe even better than usual. If you're generally a fan of Flutlicht or S.H.O.K.K.'s material you'll definitely want to check this one out, you won't be disappointed. Powerful basslines and tremendous reverb give rise to the most energetic tune I've heard from 2003.
The tune starts off with an unusual repeated sound effect, which is fairly typical of S.H.O.K.K., and as is also typical, it's quickly augmented by a deep and powerful bassline which is only going to get harder as the tune progresses. It doesn't take long for some more bassy sound effects to kick in and create a very powerful riff, reminiscient of the S.H.O.K.K. remix of Altitude - Altitude. Shortly thereafter we get a bit teased by some simple and repetitive elements, and then at about the 1:50 mark another layer kicks in and we can feel the energy building up, preparing to explode when the climax arrives. The breakdown begins shortly thereafter, and we here our first taste of the lead melody in its soft form. It's a nice melody which builds upon itself in much the same way System F - Elevate does. At about 3:40, the main melody begins in earnest, and it is a monster. Typical S.H.O.K.K. flowing reverb synths carry the melody from the breakdown to the next level, creating a fantastic energy sure to drive all but the most jaded ambientAddict onto the dancefloor. The melody carries you along, and when it begins to fade, you'll wish it would just keep on going. Song elements are then phased out in a fairly typical S.H.O.K.K. manner, maintaining quite a bit of energy right up until the very end.
I am a well known S.H.O.K.K. addict, so I suppose it should come as no surprise that I really enjoy this remix. But even by the standards of their previous work, it is one of their better remixes. It doesn't hold a candle to Altitude, but it might be the best thing they've done since.
The Arbiter's Verdict: 10/10
it rocks i tells ya
