Yao Ming Overrated???

Does anyone think this guy is overrated or is it just me, I mean come on this guy does not deserve to start in the all star game over shaq. I'm sure he will be a good player if he avoids injury but the only reason he is starting in the game is because of all the hype he got when he came down to the states and all the people in china voting for him.

hey i live in Houston where the Rockets are from the team that Yao plays with. All i got to say is as long as they win. They guy is freakishly tall. He doesnt even have to jump to dunk. Of course that shit is easy for him. I used to play ball at an elementary school for fun. I was dunking all over the place. I imagine that is how he feels. Go Team. he he he

Yao is avering more points per game than the only other rookie of any importance (Amare Stoudamire), 1 less rebound and a little under 1 more block per game than Amare.

Looking at the big picture they are about the same in terms of talent but Yao is simply a sentimental favorite in any Rookie voting and who said sentiment didn't count for anything?

When Shaq retires Yao will be unstoppable as there will be no other true good centers in the NBA; i.e. he will have no competition, unless some amazing talent with the body and height suddenly materializes. Yao already stands heads and shoulders, literally and figuratively, above almost all of the competition at the center spot in today's NBA, as Shaq did from the mid 90's until now. Now if either had played in any other era, they would have had greater competition, and their legacies might have turned out differently. Who's to say how Shaq or Yao would do if they were facing with young and healthy Ewing, Olajuwon, David Robinson, Alonzo, etc?

Yao's got skills--just watch him develop...

and amare is nice (as a knick fan im quite pissed we didnt draft him but our general manager and owner suck donkey balls )
