Exit Shutdown!
Just saw this on the news right now..Exit Nightclub was shutdown by the NYPD for sale and use of ecstasy in the club. Most of u are probably happy to hear this but they say more clubs are going to be shutdown...hopefully not Roxy or Arc....they better not shutdown roxy before PvD
WOW ! for real? I was wondering how EXIT got away with so much shit for so long. Where can I find some more info on this?
should we celebrate or do the other thing ?

Don't have all the info here. But watch Eyewitness News tonight at 11:00 PM (for those of you at home). Apparently, the NY State Supreme Court has ordered the closing of two major clubs in NYC - Exit and Sound Factory. I believe the reasons are for illegal drug use and selling

NEW YORK CITY POLICE COMMISSIONER RAYMOND W. KELLY AND SPECIAL NARCOTICS PROSECUTOR BRIDGET G. BRENNAN ANNOUNCE CLOSURE OF TWO NIGHTCLUBS IN MANHATTAN ON CHARGES OF ONGOING ILLEGAL "DESIGNER" DRUG ACTIVITIES
New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly and Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan today announced the closure of two large nightclubs in Manhattan on charges of ongoing illegal drug activities. The Sound Factory, at 616-620 West 46th Street, and Exit, at 610 West 56th Street, were closed on Friday, February 7, by order of the New York State Supreme Court. These closing orders are subject to modification by the court.
"The New York City Police Department is combatting the illegal narcotics trade everywhere in our city � not only in the streets, but also in nightclubs," said Commissioner Kelly. "Our detectives did a terrific job throughout this investigation. Thanks to their hard work, we are sending a clear message to nightclub owners: If you allow illegal drugs to saturate your business and endanger your patrons, we'll shut you down."
Special Narcotics Prosecutor Brennan said: "Most of those we are prosecuting are college students who seemed to have no preciation of the legal consequences to themselves or the harm that their distribution of the drugs brought to their customers. The special treatment they received in the exclusive areas of the clubs enhanced their sense that they could conduct criminal business with impunity."
Both nightclubs have been the scene of numerous narcotics crimes, usually involving illegal "designer" drugs, such as Ecstasy (methylenedioxy methamphetamine or MDMA) and Special K (ketamine). In Exit, undercover detectives not only purchased drugs easily, they also observed many club patrons using them in the open. In other incidents, detectives purchased benign substances that the sellers claimed were illegal drugs, a common ploy used by narcotics dealers to defraud naive drug buyers.
The nightclub was previously the subject of a nuisance abatement action, in September 2000. After extensive negotiations with the club owners at that time, Exit was allowed to operate after club management agreed to institute numerous anti-drug policies, including hiring an independent private-sector inspector general, or IPSIG, to monitor and report on club activities. The IPSIG agreement covered a nine-month period, from October 2001 to June 2002.
At the Sound Factory, the larger nightclub with a capacity of more than 1,400 people, undercover detectives purchased Ecstasy, Special K, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana. During the investigation, drug use by patrons was clearly in the open. In fact, on Jan. 26, 2003, a 19-year-old woman overdosed and was removed from the club in an unconscious state. The Sound Factory was also temporarily closed by nuisance abatement order on April 30, 1999.
This investigation was initiated by the Narcotics Division of the New York City Police Department and the investigation was assisted
by the office of the Special Narcotics prosecutor and the NYPD's Civil Enforcement Unit. The Civil Enforcement Unit secured nuisance abatement closing orders against 649 locations across the city in 2002, for charges including illegal narcotics, gambling, ostitution, auto crime, stolen property, alcohol beverage control law, and trademark infringement offenses.
Eleven defendants are being prosecuted for drug sales inside the clubs by the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor.

celebration time!! NO MORE EXIT!!! Finally.. LoL thats where i first started to club.. oh well. that place sucks balls. im happy! hhhahaha fucking exit!! hahhahaha
as bad as SF and exit was....this still is a bad sign...so where do you think all those party-ers are gonna go now....?? massive over-crowding at the remaining few clubs left in nyc.

I wouldnt be too surprised if Arc was next.At Arc's 4 year anniversary party, there was blatant drug use EVERYWHERE! For a minute, I thought I was in SF. Since they have no liquor license, Arc presents the perfect environment for drug use. Oh, and please dont tell me that it doesnt happen. I know people who deal and buy massive amounts of drugs inside Arc....One more thing, to anyone who blames the NYPD or Bloomberg: get your head out of your asses. The only group to blame are the clueless rejects and adddicts who do their drugs in the open. If the drug culture wasnt so prevelant in clubs, the NYPD would have no reason to shut them down...
if SF doesnt re open im done with clubs forever, RIP

Why can't people do drugs BEFORE they go in the club, if that's their thing? Why does it have to be inside? That's where they get into trouble. I think the selling/buying is the issue. If people just popped some pills, or what have you, and went and minded their business, all should be good.
This is definitely a bad sign for things to come for the nightlife in NYc....just when things seemed to be stable for NY clubs, 2 major shutdowns occur....and this is the reason why NY has a hard time gettimg some international acts...why would anyone wanna spin in a club that is in risk of being shutdown any moment..??
Simple solution...drink a beer....leave the drugs at home....
I never went to Exit so I can't talk about that place.
But concerning SF the time I was there I was rather impressed.
It's a real nice club, sound, lights, visuals what not.
TOP LEVEL! It's one of the top 5 clubs I've been too.
But the peeps were a bit rude. That's beyond the point.
Speaking from personnal experience, SF is the club where I was offered the most E EVER in my whole entire clubbing life ( .... and I've been to clubs in many different places and countries .... ) I don't get it, the time I went was for Pvd last march and security was top concerning id, search and so on.... If dealers get in ..... I don't know ...
