Exclamation BIOS help!!!!!!!!!!! PLZ!!!!!

ok guys...another one of my computer problems.....

ok...so my bios is from `99 ...and for some reason, doesn't support large drives.... like i bought i 40G ...and it can only detect 32....
that was 7 months ago..... now...i decided to get the thing fixed...and i was told to update my BIOS driver..... WELL... i don't know what the fuck went wrong...but my computer won't boot any more.... (meaning, my computer starts, and all drives are running, but it doesn't boot...not even to the first screen...there isn't even a signal to the monitor.)

so, i screwed up big time... and i need ur help!!!! PLZ.... what are my options?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

well...i'm at a friends...

my motherboard has some number....but manufacture by compaq....and i couldn't get any help/drivers from there... but the BIOS company is something like: Award...

it's pretty hard to get the info now cuz it's not working...

so could i just replace the bios chip????

i'm really not up to buying a new motherboard, and having to figure out how to install it....i've already spend lots on upgrades....(ram, floppy, cd-r, hd, network card)

ok, if you do not see any screen, then you are fucked. There are a couple of options at this point:
1. get a new mobo
2. find someone who has an EEPROM programmer that works with your BIOS chip and flash a correct BIOS on there
3. find out who manufactured ur mobo and send them an e-mail.

ps.: if you do not know what you are doing, do not flash your bios. there are usually like 15 gazillion warnings b4 u get to do it

It seems that you did something wrong when flashing the bios. But, if you were pluging the hard drive in and out at that time, it just might be that it's not the bios problem but that some connection didn't get hmm, connected, so try plugging all the stuff out and then back in one by one. Sometimes it does the trick.

But it probably is the bios, so aside from buying a new motherboard, you can go to some service centre and ask them to repair it. Should be cheaper than buying a new one.

And also, if your hard drive's size is too big, try using fdisk to split it into two smaller volumes.
