What Should I Get?

I'm planning on getting a system pretty soon (XBOX, GameCube or PS2). I just need some advice an opinions on what system I should get. Mainly it's between PS2 and XBOX.

PS2: lot's of wicked games, easy to download games
XBOX: a few wicked games (Halo, Halo 2 (soon) and a lot more), games can be burned
GAMECUBE: can't burn games easily, some good games (Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Resident Evil)

How easy is it to find/burn XBOX games? If you reply please have opinions to back it up since I need some convincing on which I should get. What are other good games that are out/coming out?

Let see, Downloading games of the net and burning is no longer the way to go because to be honest, it don't exist no more. Don't believe anyone who tells you about it. Its all about ftp man (thank go for mirc ). First of all, ps2 and xbox allow you to have burned games in cd or dvd format. the ps2 requires a modchip(Magic 3.1 is the best one out of all) and xbox can also have modchips or have its bios changed to read burned games. There is no way to copy Gamecube games because of their archeticure. If anyone tells you its possible, they are bullshitting you. Just remember for the xbox and the ps2 to read up before you go out and buy the modchips.

Ps. Downloading games of the net dude, it totally gay. Dont bother. go on mirc, and work from there.

Sorry if I'm the first to tell you this but mirc is part of the internet . Not only that but programs like Direct Connect also have lots of XBOX and PS2 ISO's. I know all about PS2 and XBOX, burning games wise since I allready download and burn PS2 games. Gamecube games can definately be burned if you have DVD's that are that small and they do exist. The PS2 modchip is really expensive though, the best one (no booting required) would be 2/3's of the price of the PS2 itself (including installation) so PS2 would end up costing me about $500 Canadian. XBOX if I can just get the BIOS modded or changed then it would probably be cheaper or free if I can do it myself so XBOX would end up being cheaper. Gamecube is most likely out of the question since I don't own a DVD burner and don't know where to get small DVD-R's but I could probably find ISO's or a guide on how to rip them somewhere.

i got my ps2 + memory card + 2 controllers + 8 fake games = 2800 yuan...that is 350 us dollars ^_^ heheh..oh yes..the mod chip included without boot

PS2 all the way.

I dunno man,I have em all But if I had to pick one I'd probably pick Xbox because the games are better for muilti-player. Friends and I still play Halo, crazy matches! Xbox is finally starting to get good games.

Since I have lots of video game fanatic friend and my girlfriend loves video games too thats an idea...... I absolutely love Halo and Halo 2 will most certainly rock. Also the Matrix game coming out looks wicked. Can anyone give me price info on the modchip/BIOS edit and also info on how hard it is to download/burn/boot up the XBOX games. Thanks for the input so far, much appreciated.

Well by internet I meant actual websites. I hear people always saying to me that they're downloading games off the net and burning them. That is very old, and stupid. Mirc is the true way to go.

hey Demon when people say the net they probably mean mirc/dc/other p2p proggies , and not websites

Yes and no, I hear different stories.

XBOX because of DIVX playback and linux and other stuff
PS2 because of better and more games

no gamecube

I didn't know XBOX plays DivX movies!?!?!?!?. I've burned lots of Divx movies as plain AVI files, do I have to convert them at all and what do I need to play them on the XBOX?

XBOX is great because of the few multiplayer games that it has and lots of extra features because of the hard drive .

What other hacks are there for XBOX? Like maybe emulators, video players, etc.?

BTW internet means everything. When someone says they have the internet it means they have access to web pages, P2P programs, etc. You subscribe to the internet, you get a modem, you use the modem to connect to P2P programs like mircs, kazaa and also web pages therefore the internet is everything that makes use of the modem, and without the modem mirc is useless.

I just read an article on Cnet.com that said that there is a media player that will play not only VCDs but also DivX movies on XBOX. There are also lots of other hacks that allow hard drive swapping, DVD drive swapping, copying of XBOX ISO's to the XBOX and running them directly off of its hard drive, backing up the hard drive, running windows programs on XBOX, swapping DVD drive cables (increases read speed) and there are a lot more hacks. There are a lot of things also in the works like using the XBOX to run Linux software. Creating a video game system that was more like a computer than all the other consoles doomed them. Look at all the info I have and it's only been less then half an hour lol. I also want to possibly get another case for the XBOX and/or add in the custom LED's

This is how I see it

PS2:
-more games
-some better games
-games are easier to download

XBOX:
-games are easier to copy (copy to XBOX hard drive, then copy to computer then burn)
-can play some computer games
-can download extra software from the net onto the XBOX
-swap hard drive
-swap DVD drive

PS2 may reign for game selection and quality but XBOX reigns for mods

PS: Halo, Halo 2, Matrix, nuff said

I've been following the video game industry since I was
5 years old - My father used to own an arcade - grew up playing all the classics - Pacman/Q-Bert/Galaga to name a few. Reading magazines/collecting consoles/games/playing professionally (Yes, for $.) I have quite a few friends in the programming industry, and even a few that work for Microsoft.

With all of my experience and knowledge surrounding the industry
I would say go for PSX2. This was foresable even before the PSX2 was released.

There is absolutely no way that GameCube and Xbox can compete now. And to say otherwise would be a lie. (Sorry to break it to the girls and boys who think otherwise.)
It's far too late for either of these companies to catch up based on the fact that Sony released their console in a timely fashion (Capturing most of the market from the get-go.)
and they were riding on the reputation of the PSX. So who wouldn't buy a PSX2 based on that?

Sony is here to stay, and will produce long and strong for PSX2 until PSX3 is released. They could release crappy titles month after month until the PSX3 comes out and they'll still dominate.

I've played the X-Box before, and I can say that i'm really not impressed with anything they've come up with.

Haven't touched GC, but their game library doesn't look all that impressive. Not all that many titles, and stickin' to the norm it looks like.

Uh thanks for the input but XBOX is better because of all the mod's and the modding potential since it's basically a computer so I've made my choice

go with a PS2, grab a mod-chip, get on IRC, download, burn

where on mirc ? which server and what channels ?
actually here in Turkey i buy ps2 games for less than 2 dollars but they are Cd copies of them not dvd.. Dvd copies are more than 10 dollars so i might need Mirc

The Type S controller is allright and you can get converters so you can use any controller on the XBOX (PS2, PC, etc.)

I get XBOx on tuesday with 2 games and the type S controller . First things I'm buying are Halo and a second controller and in about a month I'll be getting a modchip and swapping the hard drive .
