KarateKid The vocalness of toronto radio trance...

I was flicking thru the radio dial today tuning into 100.7 FM and i passed by 103.5 FM and noticed that they were playing a trance tune. Now i know the whole debate about them playing trance during day time radio has been raised before .. but my question is this, whenever i hear it on that station, i always notice that it tends to be a very european commercial trance track with excessive and often dispairing amounts of vocals mixed into it .. so why is it that whenever they actually throw a trance tune it's gotta be one with lots of vocals in it and if it doesn't have vocals they feel this need to add it in .. ??

(btw. i'm not saying there's anything wrong with vocals in trance tracks.. moderate amounts albeit, it's just that i wonder why commercial radio always needs lots of it)

because people listening to radio are used to associating a face with every tunes they hear (see pop culture)... listening to songs without vocals just isn't "right" for them...

:/

On 103.5 they play the cheese euro that is played at all ages events, because they know that's who's listening(17 year olds in their civics), thus the constant ad's for those cheesy clubs like Palazzo's!!!

which part...I jus read it again makes sense to me.

I guess my post wasn't really a valid response to the original question but I always jump to flame 103.5 when given the oppurtunity!!!

The reason why they "ruin" sweet sweeet trance songs is because of the "gino/clubber" effect. You see TA's are special people we can enjoy trance for hours on end without a single syllable on the track and be quite happy. (Especially uplifting or hard trance).

Then there are the gino/clubbers they can't appreciate a song with fewer than 40 words, even if they are repeated over and over and over throughout the entire song. They need catchy lyrics or beo dee beo beo over tracks in order to live their "freestyle" lifestyle properly.

Take one part trance track + more lyrics + cheesy danny d remix + tony monaco = and you get a euro song suitable for radio play.

Trance isn't "good" enough in its pure form for commercial radio play in Canada. Places in Germany and England drop trance on the radio all the time. Here in Canada trance is something that needs to be mutilated for radio play.

Lets hope the ginos don't get a hold of iio - at the end....the scumfrog remix is nice...and a danny d remix would ruin the song for me.

As much as this makes no sence, my internal compiler was able to contruct the idea. And I think its in some way true. The audience is different for different types of music. So they alternate music according to the time of day/location of the city area.

For an example, they could play trance and the audience could be around 4,000 people listening at one time. If they change the trance track to a famous eurodance track, the audience increases to lets say 30,000 people. So by obvious choice they would play the eurodance track.

Now why people in GTA perfer eurodance is another thing. Alot of people I talked to say that techno is just beats. And they can't stand it. They think its like someone pounding a stick over their head until they get a headache.

Could this be a lack of appreciation of real music, a forceful introduction of pop music into their brain, which is in fact what you hear most of the time on the radio. Music is so commercial, and its sad, really.

FINE. allow me to RE-PHRASE MY THOUGHTS

THE GTA IS HEAVILY POPULATED BY TEENAGER GINO'S IN THEIR CIVICS. SINCE RADIO STATIONS RELY ON THE AMOUNT OF LISTENERS (FOR THEIR ADS) THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY GOING TO PLAY THE TYPE OF MUSIC THAT APPEALS TO THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF PEOPLE. GINOS AND GINO WANNABE'S LOVE THIS CHEESE EURO THUS THEY PLAY IT ALOT.
DONT U NOTICE THEY ALWAYS HAVE ADS FOR THE GINO CLUBS SUCH AS PALAZZO'S?!?!??
