Lightbulb HELP: School project

I'm doing an I-Search report for my senior project in school and it has to involve something of interest. My topic is "How to become a successful club DJ".

I need some help with gathering info and here is the best place to get it so any help will be appreciated. Here's some of the questions I'm looking for answers to:

How much does all the equipment cost (turntables, speakers, etc.)?

How much money do big name DJs make per gig once they've made it to the top?

What is needed to become a resident DJ?

Why vinyl over CDs?

How do you land yourself gigs at other clubs around the country?

Any other info will be widely accepted also. Thanks.

just to give you some hints...

Equipment:
Really depends on what you want to spend. You don't need to buy technics to get into it. Check some local consumer eletronic shops in your area or the internet. eg. for germany this would be www.elevator.de. They also have complete DJ-Sets form 250-900

Money:
Depends on popularity and other things. Ranges form 10.000$ to 25.000$ but basically it's an open end scale. Please take into account that those sums mostly include travelling and various other costs.
Also keep in mind that most pors spend a set amount of money per month to buy new vinyl to stay up to date.

To become resident:
All you need is a club and an owner who says "Hey buddy, you're in.." ...that's it basically.

Why Vinyl?:
Well, apart from all this quality stuff you can read all over the internet, one basic fact is keeping Vinyl alive: you can bury a technics for years in a desert, dig it up, dust it off and it will still play records as if nothing had happened... CD-Players basically fuck up after about 1 year playing in a club.

How do you land yourself gigs at other clubs around the country?:
Get into contact with other DJ's. Go to different clubs. See "Resident" statement.
Once you're well known, get yourself a booking agency and they will arrange the gig's for you.

Hope, I could help a bit.

Yeah, if we don't even find much on the topic we can just write "There wasn't much information on this topic" and still get credit for it LoL. Unfortunately it is due tomorrow and I don't have a large amount of information. I should have posted this on here earlier, I tend to put things off too long
