Should I be worried about all these war hysteria?

people buying duct tape and making their homes all secure. stocking up on food and stuff. chemical weapons, bio weapons, all these shit is making me paranoid and have anxiety throughout the day.
it's really scary if you think about it. i know the eastcoast is like a danger zone now but even still i live in the southwest region and im worried even more.

this whole thing sucks ass.

Duct tape won't stop radiation

Well I live in NYC and I am as calm as a sleeping baby.
I don't understand why there's always some dork- from some dry town out in Arkansas- more worried than someone who lives right in Manhattan- like myself? That's just plain silly.
I do have to say that all this gay hype is just getting out of control now and people need to stop fearing death so much. Just live eachday and resume as any other day.
By the way, I do fear heights.

Hehe, just be happy you dont live in Israel. If there's some country that has to fear Iraqi weapons and/or terrorist attacks then it's the "Holy Land".
Well as a little child in Israel I experienced the war live and exclusively in a basement with a gas mask on. Was kinda cool though

How about "duck and cover" ?

Posted by Tranex02 on Feb-14-2003 16:06:

The whole point of terrorism is to terrorize ppl....
and also having an anxiety....i think ur overeacting a little....
I mean....aside from having emergency kits and extra food....what more can u do to protect urself..... if something bad is gonna happen...there's not much u'll be able to do....

i saw all the stuff in america on the news... theyre al making survival kits n stuff.. talk about their government scare-mongering..

its not so bad here in the UK.. the government are still trying to persuade us to go to war.. nevermind prepare for nuclear attacks hehe.. although soldiers with guns at every major airport (and even tanks at heathrow) seems to be working pretty well.

No, you should not.

It's not like US is going into a war with a country capable of doing some harm to the US mainland. It's just generating hysteria in order to make people more afraid and therefore more supportive for the Bush's war. The precaution measures with food supplies are intended for situation when there's gonna be at least a few day long assault on your area so you won't be able to go out of the basement for days. Trust me, your city won't be in a Sarajevo-like situation. The problem with most americans is they haven't been in a war for so long that they're totally overreacting when a situation comes that even resembles a war-like one.

didn't they catch a terrorist in NYC who had a dirty nuke?

Posted by FastFashion on Feb-14-2003 20:50:

*DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!*

Posted by Aldrian on Feb-15-2003 00:10:

thanks guys

for reals im not afraid to admit that i am...actually was scared of the whole crap. but you guys making light of the situation is a good sign. tv is making fun of it as well. it's just that this thing worried me more than the y2k bug and look waht happened to that. nothing.
but thanks guys for cheering the whole hoopla up for me. i guess there is nothing i can do but to live each day one at a time.

Hahahahaha yes I do. But don't blame me for the hysteria, just go buy something!

I wouldnt worry. If a proper war does break out, its not likely Iraq are gonna be able to let off a nuk. They'll probs get bombed first, and then the USA troops go in and finish it off. Harsh i no, but thats probably the way its gonna be.

Posted by infinity HiGH on Feb-16-2003 05:54:

my mom is completely freaking about this (and notice where *I* live...). She doesn't want to buy a DVD player for some frickin reason cuz of this Iraq thing, and she doesn't want to go on vacation with her B/F to Mexico...wtf?!?

I go through most days not even thinking about whats going on in the world. Only seeing it on TV or on newpaper covers does it get me thinking for 5 minutes before I go thinking about something more relevant to my short life (like girls, music, what i'm doing on the weekend, etc etc etc).

This isn't worth stopping our lives for...at least for me it isn't.

I haven't changed my life one bit as a result of 9/11. Ok, maybe I was a little angry at the arab world that they breed such hate against us Americans, but otherwise no. It's kinda like how Hitler bred hate vs. the Jews, it's scary when your the target of hate.

600-800 cruise missiles will be delivered upon Iraqi cities in the first 2 days of the war to shatter their morale and reduce enemy defenses. Sort of like the Dresden bombing in a way.

Dont you think there is a reason why they hate us? and the war (apart from being a crime against humanity) will affect you by further destroying the american and world economy and breeding more hate and therefore more terrorism

these are bleak times for humans. the roaches are celebrating though. If you've watched bowling for columbine (excellent movie btw) you'd know that the news networks want to breed a culture of fear among u.s. citizens.

I sometimes wonder, will Saddam sacrifice his country, the lives of the majority of the people in his country and most of all his own life to send a nuke or a large biological weapon heading toward the U.S? If he does that then America WILL have the support of everyone else they are trying so hard to persuade to back them. Then that's the end of Saddam. I don't think so. His main concern is himself, I think he knows he can't really fight them, I mean his army is a pile of cock. He's probably just holding out, hoping they'l go away. So because of that I don't think you have anything to worry about.
