What's the best program for reworking, remixing?

I mean e.g. taking an existing track, and re-arrange it, adding drums, cutting and so on.

Any suggestions?

I use Sound Forge to cut up the channels the way I want them, then use Buzz (the same program I use to write music) to do the rest of the work.

I'm not sure why anyone would use a different program for remixing than they do for writing original pieces?

If you're cutting up drum loops you may want to check out Recycle too.

Apart from that, stick to using the sequencer you know. So long as you can import audio and MIDI files you should be fine.
