the most famous trance track in the world

i was thinking... what is the most famous track in the world? so that almost everyone you'd ask about it would've heard (of) it?

Delerium feat. Sarah McLachlan - Silence?
System F - Out Of The Blue?

what do you think?

Posted by Rakoon on Feb-17-2003 02:42:

Probably...

Robert Miles - Children

Once you've heard it, you'll never forget.

Posted by Mr Game+Watch on Feb-17-2003 02:53:

Wesley Willis

Posted by Excite on Feb-17-2003 02:57:

Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel

is this even an argument??

Posted by beema on Feb-17-2003 02:58:

Unfortunatley, I think the most famous track would probably be one of those on the fringe of trance, such as a commercial cheese trance like Darude - Sandstorm

Posted by Pio on Feb-17-2003 02:59:

Something commercial that was high up in the charts around the world like Sandstorm or 9pm till I come. Those were way more universally popular than Children and Silence.

Posted by tc-fan on Feb-17-2003 03:06:

umm i think Energy 52-Cafe del mar

Posted by whiskers on Feb-17-2003 03:08:

yeah, Nrg2Nfinit mentioned sandstorm in the chatroom, although i don't consider tracks that went mainstream trance anymore... they go down into the cheese category, although i still like some

how about something by Gouryella? or binary finarY

Posted by Paulie on Feb-17-2003 03:14:

Silence by far everyone nob on the street knows it

Posted by UWM on Feb-17-2003 03:21:

I would think Faithless - Insomnia is pretty well known.

Posted by futurevision on Feb-17-2003 07:06:

mine goes to
sandstorm / 9pm till i come

Posted by tranceaholic on Feb-17-2003 07:08:

i will have to agree with silence and sandstorm

Posted by RWC0412 on Feb-17-2003 07:10:

Not the most famous,,,,,,, butttttt, Zombie Nation- Kernkraft 400 is pretty well known, Ive heard it playing at NHL hockey games...

From Peru

The song that put trance on the mainstream map here (sorry to say) was ATB - 9 pm ('til I come)

You heard that on the buses, right after the salsa tunes.... hehehehe

Used to be nice at the time... sounds really cheesy now that I hear it.

But if I can remember a tune long way before listening to these music, it has to be Children. That kept banging on my head for years before I knew who played it...

Unfortunately for something to go popular it has to become commercial hence the definition

:P

and sandstorm isnt and was never cheese, its called CLUB TRANCE can you say C L U B T R A N C E??

so:

chicane saltwater
john digweed - heaven scent
darude - sandstorm
Mauro picotto - komodo
Alice deejay - better off alone

^------ this was number one on the world charts at one point!

Posted by E-Trancer on Feb-17-2003 09:08:

Robert Miles - Children, it was a hit even in France...

Posted by escee on Feb-17-2003 09:15:

silence, children or for an angel

Posted by infinity HiGH on Feb-17-2003 09:27:

As far as trance goes, definately Robert Miles - Children. No other trance tune comes close to it's worldwide popularity. Other than that, I think Sandstorm.

Tunes like For An Angel and Silence aren't that well-known by the general audience. They may be big throughout the scene, but not in the mainstream.

Posted by TranceSeeker on Feb-17-2003 10:49:

Name says it self...

Universal nation

Posted by T_2199 on Feb-17-2003 15:19:

This has to be silence (tiesto remix) !! you hear it in every commercial disco (for uplfiting trance)
darude - sandstorm is not trance is europop!!
