We have many Genres and Sub Genres to Electronica. This forums name takes up EDM's most widely accepted form...Trance. Over the past year that I have been visiting this Forum, Ive seen a lot of changes in what people listen to and what they post about. TA's going from "dying" over a new release, to id'g every song of a Live Tiesto or AvB set, the cheese posts, and the Top 5,10,100 posts. The posts about Politics in Trance. Then in the last 6 months, Progressive House stepped in and changed everything. It then gave room for Breaks and Techno to nudge in. TA community showed signs of evolution. The Prog vs Trance wars started and the fans of two big sub genres of EDM found themselves on either side or like myself they enjoyed both. All that being said, wouldnt it be tite for a New Name for our Vast and diverse community? Something punk rock that everyone can relate to. If you agree, post a new potential name.

EDM = Electronic Dance Music.
I think he means, why not change TA to EDMaddict, so that it encompasses all types and genres of EDM not just trance.

I say. Too much hassle.

this board is Swamper's baby, bring it up with him if we should change the name to something more 'evolved'

EDM sounds good but I think it is too broad. As such, I can't really think of anything better than the current name. This is simply because one can define trance music as music that puts you into a trance. For me, this encompasses trance, prog, breaks, and whatever else I like.

if i start talking about chinese pop music in here with a couple of friends, can we change the board to EDM-HKPOP-Addict.com?



this board started off as tranceaddict and i certainly hope swamper intends to keep it that way.

LoL tits, it was a proposal not something to cry about. I know it isnt easy to change TA's name. In the long run though, Trance, House, Breaks, will come and go as topics of discussion but the Core will remain Electronica Dance Music. Its like America changing its name from the original 13 colonies...to the United States of America...Think of it like that.

dude, at which point are we crying over this? i'm just laughing at your proposal. i hope you aren't taking personal offence to my negative feedback, but seriously, my opinion is that this is a stupid idea.

right now the majority of topics are still about trance. just because of a minority interest in other genres doesn't mean its time to ditch the website's name. at some point in the future, if other forms of music were emerging as a topic of discussion (i.e classical music, rock), are we supposed to rename the site again to something appropriate to that? give me a break.

hey, you know what? there are a lot of asians and people of other ethnics living in the united states too! lets rename the country now to something more appropriate. i know you are good at making new names. can you give me a good suggestion for your country's new name?

it is up to swamper's decision to change the site name. if he does go ahead and change it, i can live with his decision. however, trance was what started this community. the members on the board owe it to trance that brought everyone here. i would prefer to see the term "trance" intact on the website.

I have an idea: How about we don't change the name considering this is the music forum where ppl talk about all kinds of music but that doesn't mean we should change the name.

Dude, wheres my car? Can you relax for a sec. Look at a site like Mp3.com, do you think mp3.com would do 1/100th the business or success if it was called TranceMp3.com, RapMp3.com , RockMp3.com? Trance is not the only topic or type of music that is discussed here, All types of Electronica is, so it only make sense for benefit of this site and its patrons that it be called what it truly is, an Electronica Dance Music Forum. Im a bit of a economics and market research guy so I guess I see things on the macro level...you seem like a traditionalist and thats fine...but there's nothing wrong with Change dude...o yah and some new colors would be kool for the site haha.

Its not broke, but neither is Microsoft or nVidia...but their always looking for new ways to inovate and make what they have better. Ima business mind...which is I dont think you kids know what im talkin about. But to To take it further, TraneAddict is a decent brand, If I was TA Id be fixing to make a Compilation series, start a lable, find a decent DJ(even one of our own TA DJ's) to mix and compile the first one, and put it out for the masses to enjoy and buy. I mean who knows Trance better than the people here at TA? Im trying to say, TA can be bigger than what it is, and it can move forward if it wants to.

why are you even associating mp3.com with this website? we don't offer mp3 to make money or whatever they do there. its totally different. when mp3.com was made, its intent WAS TO MAKE MONEY. when tranceaddict was first around, its main purpose was to share livesets/singles and the trance music that swamper liked. there was this dinky little forum that not many people used until swamper put in the UBB (i think) in late august 2000 and then it started growing as a community.

enfuse dub, just because i type long in-depth posts that explains my point of view, doesn't mean i am angry at you. don't think so highly of yourself. you aren't important enough to me to make me change my mood. when i start calling people names and start flaming, then you will know i am pissed. ok?
