Sean Desman @ VIVA - RUMOR OR TRUTH?!

ok i have heard this now from MULTIPLE sources and im starting to get scared.

can someone PLEASE slam this rumor? please GOD tell me its NOT TRUE!!

source: All Age Clubbers *

*disclaimer: i do not visit this website, but one of my friends showed me to prove it to me, and im not liking what he showed me..

Posted by The Highroller on Feb-18-2003 21:26:

question: how the fuck is he supposed to preform? is he just going to sit down in the DJ booth and sing?

VIVA NOOOOOOOO!

Posted by Durafei on Feb-18-2003 21:26:

C'mon.. Who the hell cares what goes on at Viva as long as it doesn't interfere with regular friday Trance schedule? NOT ME !

If anything, we should be happy the place gets that kind of attention -> Viva gets more money -> We get better DJs

Posted by Time2Burn on Feb-18-2003 21:26:

Ok so where's the meet up? Whose gonna start up the roll call thread!!

TAz reprezent!!

AIGHT!

Posted by The Highroller on Feb-18-2003 21:27:

if they make enough money it might ruin the fri night trance nights.

Posted by bluE_Neon on Feb-18-2003 21:30:

could be very true man, Viva might make an all ages event just for the profit, but yea shawn desman is a fag!

Posted by Endlesswave on Feb-18-2003 21:36:

HAHA! Well let him come. As long as they keep brining wicked talent I could care less. Nobody says anything when Guv brings in mainstream "artists" so if it brings them the $ then so be it. I was checking out the site and it says they will be playing the best of "house, trance, rnb, etc". I want to see what their definition of trance is.

Posted by aries on Feb-18-2003 21:38:

I just visited ALLAGECLUBBER.Com and I wanted to make a few points since I know a bit about this whole thing because my brother goes to them.

1) Desman will perform maybe 3 songs, probably on some ghetto make shift stage or possibly one of those clear cubes.

2) Mc Slik is a pedophile, 21 yrs old and he goes after 15 yr olds, DO NOT LET YOUR LITTLE SISTERS GO.

3) All age events usually take place at a variety of different clubs and rarely stay at the same club eg. Viva, then helium, then club 108, then paparazzi, then whiskey saigon etc....

4) All age parties are usually held once a month for each "promotion crew(s), so a regular all ages night is unlikely.

5) Viva will probably make more money on a regular friday trance session and much more for something like a JOOF party simply based on admission alone. All age parties are typically $10, maybe $15.....Viva hits us up for $20 and up. Aside from that the liquor sales it makes bring the profits up far far more than any allages water only night.

6) Viva knows it runs the trance scene, abandoning it for the allages euro, freestyle scene would probably make it suffer. There's soooo many clubs in the mainstream club business that Viva, even with it's wicked system, probably can't compete with the likes of Money, Tonic, Joker, Papz, Plastique, Palazzo, Atlantis, Docks. ETC.

Fear not its a one night only thing....if it was going to be a regular event they'd advertise it as starting March 1st every saturday night will be all ages.

Finally now that Viva has found Trance as it's mainstay for its friday's, I think it is just trying to fill the void for saturdays...this is just a way of experimenting....they did it in the past if I remember....i.e a flyer from last Jan 02 that had euro, freestyle, trance and hip hop advertised.

Posted by psychosomatica on Feb-18-2003 21:45:

Viva should open up saturdays for trance too. Go hed2hed with the guv.

i dont really think they have a big enough following to compete with guv yet.

Posted by Elmo-On-XTC on Feb-18-2003 21:47:

I guess it's true because I was shocked when I saw the flyer handed out too at an asian pool hall that I frequent. When I saw the flyer I was like FUCK NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Shawn Desman? for fucks sake!!

Hopefully it's a one time thing.

Do not be mis-informed. This is not a Temporal Rhythm event.

Viva Friday's will always remain Trance, with the monthly Special Friday events planned by TR of course. Temporal Rhythm Saturday/Sunday special events will go off when the right artists are available at the right time. Those are the events most of you should concern yourselves with.

I don't think anyone here would think this was a Temporal Rhythm event. Just wanted to thank you TR for all the great parties that you have thrown, you guys are doing a phenomenal job! Thanks for keeping the trance scene alive in Toronto.

(It's a JOKE, damnit)

Posted by charmscars on Feb-18-2003 23:52:

...

this is retarded. this is about as noteworthy as treble charger playing at the guvernment ( i think it was them..or some other canadian rock band). so clubs that play trance must not have any other nights or try to derive any $ in any other way? why this impossible standard?

From his website:
"Shawn Desman Fernandes who hails from Toronto, Canada isn't at all new on the music scene. This 19 year old has seen it all and done it all. From dancing for prominent artists around North America as well as appearing in commercials and movies such as "Get Over It", which stars artists such as Sisqo. Under his belt Shawn is professional singer/songwriter/producer/dancer and shouldn't go unaccredited for any of it.

Shawn started sing at the age of 9 in his native Portuguese and Italian communities, which helped him, develop a large worldwide Latin fan base."

He comes from Toronto....yet talks like that.....Why don't the rest of us talk that way? Because it's all an act for American appeal. "so nex tim yow chillin wit ya dawgs hang em five and jam to his tunes yo"
