Mixmeister 3 is great for compilations, but not so much for live mixing. Traktor or Virtual Turntables are good for live mixing.

Idea Mixing?

Was the original message not referring to recording live mixed sets on your pc? That's the impression I got. I have a similar setup, ie my mixer into my PC and when I'm doing a set I use Cowon Systems Jet Audio to record the set as 128kbps variable MP3.

try Cooledit.
It's great and Nastra uses it as well. You can probably download it at www.download.com. Only thing is you have to find a crack to keep using it. It expires after a month or so.

Smoking ..umm..something

IF you have a external mixer then use VTT ... it allows you to use external mixer.... its the only program that i know of that allows you to do that

err.. exactly why do you want to use a program like Traktor to record your mixes? if you want to record mixes from your decks, i suggest you use a real recording program; such as Cool Edit Pro.

i think traktor will only record it's own output, or maybe what you set your recording device to in windows.

can you tell me the difference between making a compilation and live mixing? aren't they both the same? i mean they are both just big mixes aren't they?

No. Live mixes you can know for sure that the Dj is using all his skills to beatmatch/mix... for compilations, they are studio-compiled where computers/bpm-counters can be used to perfect the mixes..

live mixes, the Dj plays whatever he wants & is playing different records based on a crowd's reaction.. and usually you can hear em playing the newest records and such. compilations though, are usually pre-set with thier track selections and stuff.
