Hey,
Here is another article I found a week or two ago...

Hope this doesn't happen as I am starting to love the Montreal Scene.

Man oh man...

Same old story, you know? Bored, stuck-up couch potatoes who haven't been laid in 17 years find out that masses of much more interesting people are having a great time while they sit around watching the Weather Channel, and get so enraged with jealousy that they decide they simply MUST do something about those rowdy nightclubbers, that is right after they finish reading this delightful Reader's Digest article. Rich Snobs combine their efforts to lobby Rich Politician Snobs to make the neighbourhood a more quiet, decent place for themselves, because frankly, other people aren't very important.

I'm not trying to generalize, because I know that most people aren't like this. It's the people who are, that ruin it for the rest of us...

Well if for some STRANGE reason, this piece of SHIT "City Counsellor" gets his way and ALL clubs get shut down @ 3am, what does this mean for Formula 1 Weekend with Armin, Tiesto and Guy Ornadel?? Montreal will LOSE out on ALOT of Tourist money for that weekend because those 3 DJ's are making an appearance on that weekend. Something the City Counsellor should take into consideration before making a stupid move because of all the OLD farts that have no life want peace and quiet in their neighbourhood.

LOL!!!!

that is hilarious and so true! (well if it isn't, and probably isn't, it's nice to think so anyway)

yeah, it sucks how some want to ruin the fun of many ... for such stupid reasons! what you've said, DigiNut, i think pretty much nails it on the head even if it is a little overflamboyant.

which reminds me, these tragic club incidents in the U.S. will definitely add fuel to the efforts of those who would like to shut down afterhours scenes, in rave or club form, anywhere. it's unfortunate that these things have to happen out of such ignorance and misunderstanding.

on another note, it's kind of hard to believe (personally), that montreal would fall to a fate like this! hardly believable, considering its awesome party reputation! i sincerely hope that this doesn't become serious.

to quote from the article:

"What about the thousands of cars constantly streaming down Ste-Catherine, the heroin problem, the crackheads downtown, why pick on the afterhours clubs?"

well said!

down with pencil-pusher politicians! get out and get laid, ffs.

KarateKid

hrmmz.. does this mean that Montreal is gonna have their own iDance party.. ? hey that might actually be a good thing !

Posted by Trigger on Feb-22-2003 16:33:

Well hey if they're gonna start shutting them down at 3am, then how about they ship us over Tiesto, Armin and Guy for that weekend? I think there'll be a "few" supporters on here for that

I hope that "courriel" means e-mail address, I couldn't find the word in my French dictionary.

You are are overdramatizing things. As I understand it the afterhour clubs would simply have to relocate if the worst comes to worst.

courriel is a new word, go get a new dictionnary

Tiesto wouldn't go to Toronto that weekend anyhow, he comes to montreal for the Formula one weekend, its more than a gig for him.

I'm going to trust fastmp3 in his thoughst that there isn't any real danger that this would pass. But if it were to hypothetically pass, it would be a very big deal if all 3 clubs had to relocate... I still hope everyone signs the petition- it takes hardly any effort.

ps. i hope this thread doesn't start any ruckus between the TOTA's and the MTL TA's.

Exactly... you're the "little brother" who stands there taking blind crotch shots at us while we hold your head back to keep you out of punching distance.

Joking... don't start a flame war please.
