be careful / responsible at clubs .. please

im sure everyone has heard about the fire in warwick and the stampede in chicago by now, (go HERE if not).

not to bring up a tragic topic, but this should really serve as a wakeup call to all of us that attend similar events. as much as the newscasters will bitch and moan about 'codes' and who needed permits and didn't get them - denials and accusations - we (you) need to understand how to prevent this in the future. aware clubbers will be living clubbers much longer...

i am no expert in these areas, but a few of the things mentioned in the aftermath seem logical.

- look for fire exits when you first get to a venue, especially if they aren't lit up
- always try to keep in mind which is the nearest exit to you
- be wary of venues without sprinklers and old buildings perhaps mostly wooden etc

being at avalon in boston last night i definitely thought about how impossible it would be to get out quickly if the need arose. there just doesn't seem like there's a lot you can do when bodies are pressed in like sardines.

anyone have suggestions on how we can go about this more safely ?

Just be smart... remember what your elementary school teacher taught you. Remain calm, orderly, but... i am sure that is hard to do, when everyone around you is freaking out. There really isn't much you can do... unless you moan to club owners to make it more safe, and even then I think you would need a following of people to do so?

Be Cool!

In my opinion clubs/raves/funerals ect suxxxx ass when crowded. I know Admin at clubs just wants to make as mush $$$ as possible but I think it would be usefull if more clubs would watch the capacity and stop leting pepes in after a certain point. The point abbviously not beeing when u cant pack more peps in like a Japanese subway car. If u look at this with a historical point of view accidents happen. The only thing we can do is learn from mistakes and not behave like the mindless drones the media seems to try and mold us into and over react giving the green light for cops to shut everything down.
