Northern Exposure 1

Been listening to some older compilations and I finally have ne1 in my car, all I can say is that it is out of this world, I knew it was great, but now that I constantly listened to it I'm speechless.
never ever will a compilation be as good as this one, nothing beats it, seriously, it's perfect!
Tune after tune it blows u away, ya I'm excited atm cuz I just made a trip in my car, it's a nice sunny sunday afternoon so gotta make use of it to listen to some music

Anyway just wanted to say this is the best comp ever!

Posted by TheFeeling on Feb-23-2003 15:49:

Yeah, indeed a great compilation

Northern Exposure 2 is also off the hook

Yeah its class. I have all 4 Northern exposures. On NE 1 I love the first disc to chill out to and the second for a bit more upbeat stuff. Best track from the album. Pete Lazonby - wavespeech (Junior Vasquez mix) which I finally own!!!!!

Northern Exposure
Northern Exposure II: East Coast Edition
Northern Exposure II: West Coast Edition
Northern Exposure III: Expeditions

Looks like four to me.

surely a great beautiful chill out album but still a tad overhyped IMO. Let me tell you that Sasha's Ibiza (disc1) pisses all over it ...

no, east coast edition is CD1 of NE2 and west coast edition is CD2, or at least that's how I understood it

In the UK we have

NE 1
NE 2
NE - Expeditions
NE - Communication <----------- mixed by Sasha & Digweed named Northern Exposure Communication but some reason they said it was not meant to be a follow up to Expeditions.

Posted by JdDark on Feb-23-2003 20:04:

communication is a stand alone compilation, nothing to do with northern exposure

and yes, ne east coast & west coast = northern exposure 2

so there are only 3 northern exposures...

Amazing album. I can't even tell where the tracks get mixed for the first few songs.

Proud owner of this album Awesome stuff indeed, first disc is wicked up loud on a good stereo, so many mindblowing effects. Second disc goes pretty dark compared to number one, dont like it as much, altho it's still good. Underworld's Dark & Long at the end is so fucking brilliant. Best track!!!!

cd 1 is just unbelievably mind blowing

God Within - Rancry -----> Rabbit In The Moon - OOBE

most beautiful transition/followthru... stunning!

Timeless.

Indeed I've had many memorable moments listening to this album.

I can recall just this last summer taking a drive to the coast and driving back home late at night with NE1 playing in my car. The moon was out, it was a very comfortable warm summer evening, basically the perfect night. Windows down on the car, stereo blasting NE1....truely one of those moments where the music brings back those memories. Even when I listen to it today I can close my eyes and picture everything as it was. The transition from God Withins "Raincry" to Rabbit In The Moons "Out Of Body Experience" is and will forever remain one of my favorite moments in music. A timeless classic for sure.

So with that being said what are some of your other favorite albums to listen to under these type of conditions (music for chilling to on late night drives)? I'm going to keep my list limited to only electronic music for obvious reasons. And they are...:

16B - How To Live 100 Years
BT - ESCM
Chicane - Far From the Maddening Crowds
Conjure One - Conjure One
Enigma - Mcmxc Ad
KLF - Chill Out
L.S.G. - Into Deep
Mixed by Red Jerry - Chilled Euphoria
Mixed by Solar Stone - Chilled Out Euphoria
Mixed by The Forth - GU: Electric Calm
Orbital - Orbital 2
Orbital - In Sides
Paul Oakenfold - GU:NY
Phil K. - Balance 004
Sasha - GU:San Fransisco / GU:Ibiza
Schiller - Weltreise

NE1 was originally a 2CD compiliation, but that version isn't available anymore, right? or am i wrong?

Posted by Pointy on Feb-24-2003 08:10:

Yea somethin like that. How much is the 2CD version worth? I luckily saw it in a second hand cd store for $20. Not one scratch on either cd!!!

I got Northern Exposure 01 on LP. Its apparently worth lots now which is fun, hehe.

Northern Exposure 03 is what you need, Saints ans Sinners followed by Musak, just doesnt get better. Great flow, oh and how could i forget, walls of jericho !

Sasha & Digweed's communicate CD is very very fun, i listen all the time.
