Review: Scott Bond

Hello,

It is only 4:34 am but i had to leave early as my friends wanted to head back, so i am in a internet cafe somewhere in toronto.

what can i say, it was a awesome party, not really trancy but it was good.

The key thing for me was the vibe in the crowd it was so good to see people who shared my love for trance, and were enjoying it.

Viva damn what a club i must say i will return there for PVD if it is anything like today, it was packed enough that you have a crowd, but not to much you could not do anything.

Damn my legs hurt now, you guys wil have to tell me how to be able to dance so long.

I came early but i could not see any of you guys, hopefully next time i can attend the pre-meet up.

hehee bye bye

Sad

Alright .. I really have to remember never to CRAM for an exam the night before a party !

First and foremost, I want to thank sober24/7 for inviting me to the pre-meet which, unfortunately I was unable to attend due to the fact that I completely forgot to take down your cell phone number and the directions to your house before I left school downtown without any idea on how to get there.

btw. special thanks to both RJ and TranceNerd who were both offering taxi-pools and car-pools to and from Rich's place which i failed to take up on..
and Itikia for setting up the usual stuff..

Secondly, I want to appologize to everyone whom I was supposed to meetup and see tonight at the party since I NEVER even attended ! Partying it up with all the TA's at Viva has ALWAYS been an awesome experience and I feel bad for not being able to contribute to that vibe tonight. I didn't end up getting home until about 11pm ish by which I was so completely fatigued having only had 3.5 hrs worth of sleep the night before, I made a futile attempt at setting my alarm clock to wake me at 1:00am (which was about the time I would have access to my car). Unfortunately by that time I was so utterly tired I woke up dazed not even knowing what was going on. I didn't want to take a chance coming out to a party knowing that I was that tired and risk falling asleep at the wheel either on my way there, or back coming home after the party since I had a similar incident before coming home from a Syrous party back in 2000 (I fell asleep at the wheel and almost got into an accident). Not only that but I have work the next day and staying for only 2 hrs at a party isn't exactly my idea of fun.

Anyways, I hope you guys all had a good time. I feel really bad not being able to make this party, especially due to the fact that I was hoping to finally meet some new faces and seeing some other usual suspects again. I guess I'll just have to stick to reviews for now..

ehhzz.. i just woke up right now and it's like 6:18am ! on a Sat morning too .. damn how sad..

cheers guys

A good party
* 12AM Got to Viva. Peter Ivals was warming up the club with some progressive sounds. Around 1AM he started spinning Trance, and boy, it was GOOD ! By 2AM I was already pretty tired.
* 2AM Scott Bond comes on. First hour didn't do much for me, just a bunch of "not so great" anthems.
* 3AM Scott Bond starts spinning some awesome melodic trance tunes. Damn it, his Trance was so beautiful that on too many occasions I didn't even want to dance - I just listened to the music and enjoyed.
* 4AM Scott Bond gets harder. I'm finally able to satisfy my need to dance.
* 4.15AM - My original ride to the bus terminal leaves the club. I'm leaving as well, but as I'm just about to go outside, Scott puts on another beauty, I say "Fuck it" and stay.
* 5AM - Finally leaving the club. Thanks so much to Yuri for giving me and Leila a ride to the bus station. Man, you've saved us so much time and hassle !! Thanks so much !

TA presence wasn't as evident as during Orkidea but there were still quite a lot of us. Music wise it was a good party, but I thought the vibe was somewhat lacking.

Good review Durafei. And yeah I'd like to see somewhat of a tracklist as well.

Posted by Durafei on Feb-22-2003 19:58:

Peter Ivals:
Tomcraft - Loneliness
Jurgen Wries - Opera Song
Sushi - The earthquaker

Scott Bond:
Gouryella - Ligaya
Marco V - Echoes(Marco V.ision Remix - probably that remix)
Rank 1 - Breathing(whatever the mix that is played by everyone is)
(EDIT) Just remembered, he also played Solar Factor - No Return. It was one of his last records I believe

Bond definitely played some more anthems but I can rarely put a title to a song. Hopefully others will fill the rest.

Posted by sooper on Feb-22-2003 20:52:

Solar Stone Scott Bond - 3rd Earth
Solar Stone - Release
2 Players - Signet

Good gig - I'm still drunk

Posted by Flec on Feb-22-2003 21:11:

Ivals: Svenson and gielen - Answer the question ( cosmic gate remix)
cosmic gate remix of punk as well

pretty good party overall.

HEHe wow

talk about short reviews.. i guess everyones out of breath :P

it was a pretty good night.. i had alot of fun... nice to see you flec for the first time .. good to see you as well durafei, swamper, Time2Burn Tranceextacy, highroller, tatgirl, UMM as well someone with flashing glowsticks.. cant remember the name.. but it was nice to meet you for the first time as well.

In my opinion the club was a bit too packed. not much room to dance.. i always found myself crashing into ppl.. i think viva should limit there ticket sales to account for a better party. The music was great

its alway great to hear ivals drop dj gert - give me some more (public domain mix)

haha that track is greaaaaat

now onto scot bond!

He started off well.. first transition was a bit iffy was off by a tad... lol haha.. just jokes i wont get into technicalities loool

Great set overall.. alot of hard tracks played.. not much trancy trance.. alot of George acosta and Marc la cruz

This is to add to the playlist

Three drives - greece 2000 (G and M project mix) OMG I DIED!
2 Players - Signet (G M project mix)
Queen vs vanguard - flash ( tomcraft mix)
above and beyond - far from in love

pretty good set.. nothing spectacular tho.. nothing like the last time i saw him in montreal.. i guess his style is chanign and im not acustomed to it

GREAT TIME tho

cheers guys!

6 things that made the Scott Bond event amazing:

#1) The TA crowd. Always helping the party get better! I love you all!

#2) Bond playing "Jam & Spoon - Odessy to Oayoona" (the vocal mix of that song was called "Right in the Night" but was NOT played). This was one of my first dance albums I ever bought in the early 90s and for a DJ to mix in one of my favorite tracks of all time is awesome! I still listen to this track monthly....

#3) Bond closing with "Dark Suite f/ Aura - Dark Sweet Piano [traxx vs. organ remix]". I've been amazed with this song (found on the Gatecrasher 3 CD resident set) and been listening to it non-stop lately (for the last 4 weeks). This is such a brilliant track and it was played at the perfect time/moment which made it even better. The only thing that would have made it orgasmic is if the sun was rising and we could see it while this track played (time for TO to get glass-roofed club!).....

#4) J/M/M - Thanks for the ride home. You guys a true friends!

#5) I was totally impressed with Scott Bond - exactly as I expected (as far a style). The varrying arrangements and uplifing feel was just what I needed last night. Bring back BOND and bring back HARDWICK!

#6) M. Oliver played an above average set for him (in my opinion). He kept a bunch of us dancing until they kicked us out!

There might be more, but right now I'm going back to sleep. Viva always impresses me! Go VIVA!

WOW! what a great night! too bad i had to leave so early.

shoutouts to sober 24 7, sooper, hansolo, tatgirl, durafei, RJ, Jenna, Mike, Flec, TranceXtacy, Az, and all the rest.

NRG2Infinity, i keep forgetting who you are post up a pic of yourself.

thanks to the guy who kept giving me hits off his spliff but this was a huge mistake. i am NEVER smoking weed at a club again. i had too much that night. i was too high and its not a party chemical at all for me. but man.. that was some quality nub right there

another song to add to Scott Bond's list is:

Rollerball - Albinoni (Super 8 Remix)

and lets not forgot Peter Ivals' fav song: Dark Beat!! seriously man.. you gotta stop playing this shit.

sooper was following me all night. seemed no matter where i went, this drunk was falling all over me.

Dood, I don't think you were there for Bond's close - but try to find this track: Dark Suite f/ Aura - Dark Sweet Piano [traxx vs. organ remix]

This was his closing track and it's friggin amazing! One of my favorites!

Another great night!! WOW!

It was great to have people over to my place before going to Viva. We listened to some good tunes curtosy dj Loco Moco, Mike, and myself. We will definetely be doing this again soon!! Next time, lets try to get the Viva guest dj to stop by my place too!!

Peter Ivals played the usual warm up, but really got wicked in his last hour, pumpin' some wicked trance (ie opera song)
Scott Bond was really impressive. I was glad to hear the trance he played, similar to Matt Hardwick, but different in his own way. Favourtive turn Melodica - P.P.K. Beautiful!
Mark Oliver was at one of the best I have ever seen him. Dropping sick tunes that kept me dancing, even though I could barely stand. Played:
Matt Darey - Electro Fever
Kid Vicious - Proceed
Scott Project - O ------ What the FUck!! This killed me. But, I have head banger's remose now, as my neck cannot turn anymore.

Big thank to Ari & Del. Great party!

Some memories:
Sooper & Solo - I didn't think humans could be that drunk. Shit!
RJ & TranceNerd - too bad you didn't make it to my place, maybe next time.
Mike & Jenna & Mike -- You guys are fuckin wicked! So much fun. Mike, your spinning is very impressive, next time we play for longer!
Kev, Nat, Az, -- Great fun, great friends.

Mr. Hopes, nice to meet you. Come back with more gatecrasher madness soon!

Peace,
Rich

Oi?!?!?

Where are the pics? Post the pics!!!

My Review

Well I had a wicked time last night.

I haven't danced that long since before WEMF cuz of my damn sore foot, but fuck, the music was so good last night, I just couldn't stop. Even Mark Oliver kept me going (which he usually doesn't).

Anyway, I think the vibe was great last night, and I don't think it was too crowded.. The dance floor was a little packed, but that's cuz I think there were more people dancing than usual, as the music was so good.

Props go out to Dominic who I met while waiting for the REAL music to start.

TA Shouts go out to all the TA's (the names I can remember are Tatgirl, Jenna Rae, Swamper, Trance XTC, RabbitJoker, Sober 24 7)

Great Night.

As for my pics (there aren't that many, cuz I was dancing too much to take pictures) will be online by Monday... I can't download them from my camera from here, cuz my cable's at the office...

As for tracks... I have no clue... I suck at naming tracks.

I just remembered another track:

BK - Revolution (crazy trance!!!) I only remembered this becuase I was mixing it tonight....

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-23-2003 05:54:

I thought my night was gonna be shitty the way my day was going, but it turned out to be another great time at Viva. My sinus infection hates me today, but it was worth it.
Pre-party gathering at Rich's was a good change of pace. Shout out to Rich & his 'rents for having us over, & to Carlos & Corrine. We closed out or DJ session with Sasha & Maria "Be As One"- a timeless classic!!!

Got to Viva at 12 & started making the rounds of hellos. It was a smaller TA turnout, but there were so many new faces at the club, so the word must be getting out. Ivals' last hour was amazing! I love it when he plays the hard trance.

Bond opened up with a heavenly tune (ID?), and then gave us 2.5 hrs of the perfect blend of new/ unknown tracks, familiar tunes, and new remixes of classic oldies. OMG I DIED when he dropped that mix of "Greece 2000"!!! People on the dance floor turned some heads cuz I just started screaming "FUUUUCK YOUUUU!!!!" at the DJ from the dance floor, but it was meant in a really good way! I had to grab Jenna to be my dancing partner for that song. So many good tunes heard last nite.... especially those remixes of Jam & Spoon, & Rank 1 "Airwave". I was backstage when most of you left after Bond, so I'm sorry I missed out on the goodbyes. Got to talk to Bond for a bit, but Rich was hoggin' him , and quite frankly, I wasn't much for conversation last nite after smoking up again. But I did put in a request to bring his Gatecrasher night to Viva, just like ARC in NY will be getting every 2 mos.

But people- how many times do I have to tell you that you should STAY TIL THE END??? Mark Oliver KILLED it once again. Talk about a set you want in your collection! I need to get my hands on one somehow (hint hint, Mark).

Met a new TA, who's been silent, but hopefully he'll speak up now - Emotion, who came in his own home made "Tranceaddict" shirt. I made sure to introduce him to our Russian Mafia of members, so he felt at home. We joked that he is Trancearmada's replacement, cuz he's even bigger than him.

So, after I got home, when I should've gone to bed, I started troubleshooting my computer, made phone calls, fought off slumber til I got my 2nd wave of energy, and finally turned in at 2:30pm, and only slept for 4 hrs. Aside from those few puffs, I was totally sober. Why I did that to myself, I do not know. Maybe I'm just training for the WMC? I think I have problems.

It was great to see everyone who came out. Hugz to Igor, Aslan, Rich, Martin, Mike, Jenna, Mike, Cuzo, Adrian, Sue, Lindsey, NRG2infinty, Emotion, Trancenerd, Kevin, Sooper, Hansolo, Paco, Flec, Graham, Ilyia, Ari, Del, Linda, RJ, Mark Oliver, Peter Ivals (and anyone I'm forgetting) for making it such a great time.

I expect to see you all at Johan on the 7th- I don't care if another good party is here the next nite- stop being such babies, and go hardcore!!!!

P.S: You're all invited to my funeral March 30. Somehow October didn't kill me, but I suspect March will.

It's good to see I'm being recognized right next the the talent (lol) - Peter Ivals and Mark Oliver... Foresight?!?!? [lol, I don't think so - fluke maybe]

If anything, I realized that I can't do trance any more. It has to be prog, tribal, deep, dirty, dark beats for me. And even though his set kept me dancing, I didn't really enjoy it, it was too trancey. And those 10-second silences in the middle of every tune totally killed the buzz. TranceGeek & I were thinking of transferring to System after about an hour+.. but since we were in Markham......
Although he did make up for it with some prog at his 'afterhours'..

It took you a while, but hey, you're always welcome to join the "tribal" club over here...

OK.. Let's try to figure out who is Brunette by principe of exclusion.
There were only so many non-asians girls at that party, and I think I remember every one of them

Totally agree with you... Scott really put me to sleep... I went to grab a seat just like 5 minutes into his set... I still think we should've made that dash to System ... I really miss progressive, I'm thinking about hitting CZ for the afternoon shift today but since the weather is so crappy today, bah...

Is it march 8th yet?!

Thanks to all the reviews
Now I'm glad I didn't go on friday. IT looks as if everyone has developed some sort of hate towards trance thanks to Scott Bond.
I don't know what si going on first Tiesto disapoints now Scott whats next.
